Publisher's summary

Agency nurse Lynn Crane was delighted when she found employment at an isolated manor house in the Yorkshire countryside, but she quickly realized that all was not as it seemed. As she nursed her VIP patient, Serge Varda, Prince of Estavia, through a mysterious illness, an alarming truth began to emerge. Her employers, Max Ozerov and the sinister Dr. Miros, were planning to wrest control of the country from him. All at once the young couple found themselves fleeing for their very lives. With no one to turn to for help, they had to find a way to outwit the conspirators themselves. And if they survived, would the handsome Prince of Estavia take Lynn for his Princess?

Enjoyable romantic mystery

This is a quick, enjoyable, romantic mystery of espionage, political lust and a brave nurse who is willing to risk her life to do what’s right. The story has a few surprises and creates some nice romance and tension as the story progresses. The narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life and I loved both the Russian and British accents, she did them very well. If is a short entertaining, well narrated audiobook that I’m sure you will enjoy.

Nice to See a Female As The Hero

It was great to have a female hero saving the male figure but the title was a bit misleading. While the male lead character was a prince, or heroine is not a princess nor was she in peril. She was calm while assertive the entire time. That being said, it is a decent story that kept be engrossed the entire time.

I enjoyed the narration by the actress and she did well with the variety of characters.

I received this book from the publisher/aurhor/narrator in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Duchess In Peril?

Narration - Melanie Fraser - Pretty Good

Narrated with primarily a British accent and there was some Russian. Her males aren't super strong, but I loved her British accent. I could listen to that all day long!

First and foremost, I think this is a mystery. I may need to listen to this again because all the sudden it turned into a romance and apparently I missed that whole part. I was pretty confused when all the sudden the character of Lynn was thinking in her head that she was in love with Serge. Also, I'm confused about the title/blurb vs. the book. The book I listened to, he's a Duke, not a Prince and were they to get together, she would be a Duchess, not a Princess...so there's that.

The mystery part though was actually pretty enjoyable as Lynn figures out that there's something just a little weird about this job she's taken caring for this man who supposedly is suffering from Malaria. They embark on a cross country quest to try to squelch the sinister plot of the good doctor and his evil accomplice.

As I said, the romance sort of came out of nowhere and seemed like a non sequitur to the rest of the plot, but other than that. I enjoyed this little listen!

Short story, but good

If you could sum up Princess in Peril in three words, what would they be?

Well, I would have to say, good, short and predictable.

What does Melanie Fraser bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

English accent to the characters.

Any additional comments?

This was a nice happy ever after romantic suspense novella. Good for a light short listen.
Not a classic, but an enjoyable listen. The narration was very well done as well.

Kept me guessing

This is a mystery/espionage romance that held quite a few surprises for me and just when I thought the story was going one way, it changed direction and went in another. Needless to say, this held my interest and kept me guessing.
I loved that Serge's nurse, Lynn, was very capable and bright enough to see very early on what was happening to Serge. She followed her instincts throughout the book and this endeared me to her.
Serge seemed to be a very ethical and compassionate man who cared very much for the well-being of his people.
Together they make an awesome pair.
Once again our narrator, Melanie Fraser has done a magnificent job of bringing this story to life. I particularly loved her renditions of the Russian/English voices. Spot on! She really is extremely versatile.
I am happy to recommend this book/audiobook for your enjoyment and entertainment,

A good story brilliantly narrated

Would you consider the audio edition of Princess in Peril to be better than the print version?

Not having read the print version I don't feel that I am suitably qualified to give an opinion as to which is better. I can tell you however, that this is an expertly narrated tale with perfect clarity of tone, expression and diversity in character voice.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I enjoyed the gothic feel to the story. Lynn and her patient were isolated in a country mansion in Yorkshire and the people she worked for were suitably creepy which added to the atmosphere.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I enjoyed the scenes where Lynn was slowly discovering that things were not as they seemed at the mansion and that she was looking after no ordinary patient. The story took many exciting turns as the pair made their escape.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This is not a long book. I enjoyed listening to it in one sitting.

Great entertainment

Would you listen to Princess in Peril again? Why?

*** I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review.I listened to this while on vacation and it was the perfect book. The story line was fast paced and fun. Spending some time trying to figure out why Lynn was hired and the creepiness of her new boss kept me listening. As the story went on, I really enjoyed the strength of Lynn keeping right up with Serge on their escape. Melanie Fraser did an awesome job narrating with a great flow to the story. This was just enough suspense, love, and adventure to keep me listening and completely entertained.
