A good narration of a beloved classic...

I'm not going to review the book itself - everybody knows it and many love it (me included:)). The story of Elizabeth and Mr Darcy is a classic of British literature, and has inspired both writers and film makers, not to mention the readers, all around the world.

So I'm only going to share with you my opinion on the interpretation by Ms King:)
I generally liked it quite a lot; Ms King has a nice voice, the kind of voice that says "BBC costume drama" - in the best sense:) It's kind of raspy, yet genteel, and she reads very clearly and quite fast. Also, she doesn't do voices, she just reads the book, and yet there's no problem identifying particular characters.

The only thing I can pinpoint as a weakness is small pauses here and there, in unexpected moments, like in the middle of a paragraph - I had an impression this was where she was turning a page while reading... It made me lose focus and mentally jerk once or twice, thus 1 star less for the performance...

Other than that, Ms King's interpretation of the book is very good and I'd like to listen to other classics read by her.

Pride and Prejudice

I love pride and prejudice. I have seen the adaptation, read the book and any retelling I can get my hands on.
The narrator had a good voice but I do not blieve she suited this book. The characters all sounded the same not in voice which I am fine with but personality. I did not feel the excitment of Mrs Bennet or the sarcasm of Mr Bennet.

Truly a Classic

Pride and Prejudice has been a story I'm aware of for years, my mother loves it and she often watched the TV show, I hadn't enjoyed it as much but I went into this book with an open mind and it truly is much better than the show made it seem. I did thoroughly enjoy listening to such a classic story and Claire did wonderfully in her narration.
