A deep-sea thriller from the coast of Maine

"The ocean is a wilderness reaching round the globe, wilder than a Bengal jungle, and fuller of monsters, washing the very wharves of our cities and the gardens of our seaside residences." (Henry David Thoreau)

Prey is a gripping and terrifying tale set in the serene town of Ft. Lupton, Maine. In this small, New England town, the fishing has always been exceptional, attracting tourists from far and wide. But, as spring sets in, something inexplicable is happening. The fish are disappearing, and visitors are reporting strange occurrences.

As the tension builds up, Nick Traverse and his adopted son, Chris, find themselves in the midst of a terror they never imagined possible. They soon realize that the culprit behind the disappearances is not just any ordinary predator but a deep ocean creature that has awakened from its slumber.

With a skillful blend of mystery, horror, and suspense, Dan Durkee takes you on a journey into the deep ocean, where a terrifying predator is on the hunt. From the chilling encounters with underwater creatures to the pulse-pounding moments of terror, this horror mystery book will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

Listen to Prey for:

  • An escape from reality
  • A thrilling and thought-provoking listening experience
  • Well-developed and relatable characters
  • The classic trope of a creature lurking in the shadows

so... I dont usually write reviews .. but this book was special...sorta ... so my wife asked me to tell her how the book was .. this is what I said to her .. if this book was written by a 12yr old.. it's a Home run.. like really good ... but if its written by an adult its horrible ..I actually laughed at some of the dialog..however I wanted to see how it ended ..the readers voice is so so bad .. he cant pronounce certain words .. laughable at times ..

Horrible reader and writing

I couldn’t put it down. It was intense. Gripping to the very end. I felt for the characters. Well done.

Excellent book.

I will. Write this. Review. In the. Same way. That the reader. Reads. The book. In all seriousness, I find it hard to believe there was any editing done. There are a LOT of restarts and repeated lines. The story is okay, plot courses and dialogue are pretty remedial. A better reader might have made it tolerable. I’ll be returning it, as I can’t imagine listening to this a 2nd time.
