The election of November 5, 2024, was among the most contentious in American history. Trump immediately claimed fraud as early returns showed tight races in battleground states. But Harris's ground game proved decisive. She carried the "Blue Wall" states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, flipped Georgia and Arizona, and narrowly won Nevada. Her electoral college victory stood at 303 to 235.

The popular vote told an even clearer story: Harris won by over 6 million votes, the largest margin since Barack Obama in 2008. Women turned out in record numbers, with suburban women, young women, and women of color forming an unstoppable coalition.

First-time voters under 30 broke overwhelmingly for Harris, energized by her message on climate action and social justice.

Trump refused to concede, claiming "massive election fraud" without evidence. His legal challenges were swiftly rejected by courts across the country, including by judges he had appointed. Still, he continued to inflame his base, setting the stage for turbulent times ahead.
