This Story Is Sexy

Publisher's Summary

Two lonely hearts.

Just once, she'd like to be someone's first choice. She is strong-willed and spunky, but she is left picking up the pieces from her ex's lies and manipulations and daydreaming about taking a scalpel to his scrotum.

Flying under the radar is what he does best. He is laid back and loyal, but he wants the most off-limits woman in his world, and nothing will ever make that a reality.

An arrangement of mutual benefit.

Two months, four dates. Five, if things go well. Five at the most. But possibly six. Definitely no more than six dates.

Only the appearance of a romantic relationship is required, and they expect nothing more from their time together. There will be none of those benefits involved.

One wild weekend.

After waking up in bed together - very naked and even more hungover - the terms and conditions of their arrangement no longer apply. Now they're faced with something riskier than exposing their fake relationship: letting go of the past and zipping up the future. Some things have to fall apart before they can be put back together.

Sweet as Honeybee

love Riley. Always have. He was a great contradiction. Sexy, big, fit, sweet, boyish, and complete klutz.

Always walking around with his hair a mess, his close with food or coffee stains, shoes untied, and his pants unzipped.

But when he meets Alex, a doctor who works with his brother-in-law, Nick, he becomes the fun, sexy man any girl would want.

I loved he and Alex's story. I got why she was apprehensive with him, every time she learned more about Riley and what brought him to her and their arrangement. I got her past with her family. I understood her drive to do everything she could to prove I was worthy in some way.

I loved all the nicknames he gave her and how sweet they were.

It was definitely what I've grown to love about Kate's storytelling. Yay!

Riley and Honeybee

I read this book back in May and could not wait for the audio Lucy Rivers and Christian Fox are my favorite narrators. Hearing the audio for Preservation made me laugh and cry just like the book. These two narrators are perfect together. They never disappoint and always bring there all in their performances.

Riley grows up deserves better.

I love the character of Riley, just plain delightful. Alex, on the other hand, is possibly one of the most immature, self-centered and annoying women in the Walsh series. She whines, stomps and is generally unpleasant, all the while is oblivious to how her actions/reactions leave her unhappy and alone. There's a reason she isn't "first" and it has nothing to do with her birth order. Riley has overcome much worse and still manages to remain non-judgemental, affectionate and amusing. I just wish his love interest had been better written. Seems just when Riley grows up he falls in love with a 10 year old in a grown up suit.

Amazing!

The story is just incredible and is part of the Walsh Series. Riley is one of my favorite characters in this series and this book really shows the real Riley. He has definitely matured since book 1.

Lucy Rivers and Christian Fox really bring these characters to life. Their narration is fantastic! Definitely purchase this Audible, but you will want to read or listen to the first 6 books in the series before you do. Enjoy!

Narrator's voice for male was awful

The female narrator's voice for the male made him sound like he had a mouth full of marbles. I couldn't even listen to the story had to delete it.

RISD & Shortstop

Having come this far into the Walsh Series I knew that Riley’s story would show us another side of him. Initially I was unsure of the direction we were headed but knew right away that Alex was the woman to tame our boy. She’s level headed, quick, direct and enjoys being bad at times. I enjoyed how we took a step back and got to see Riley isolated from his family.

Really enjoyed reading & listening to Preservation. The story was easy to follow via audio, and the whispersync timed up well when swapping to the kindle ebook version. This story flows well in the series and I’m eager to dive into the final book of the Walsh series!

The last Walsh sibling

The story of Riley. The one whose father said he was never wanted, he wouldn’t be good for anything. The 30 year old man-boy who survived all the emotional abuse by doing things just to rile his father, messing up every which way a person could possibly do.
Riley, “in love” with his older brother Matt’s wife, Kauren. Riley, one who surprised everyone when he juggled and succeed with five projects and the keeper of sooooo many family secrets.
And then the “h” Alex, second best in her parents eye to her twin brother. Those fools even changed her birthday from April 20th to the 21st because her bother didn’t want to share with Alex. Sadly, her parents gave into that ludicrous demand - they were only 4 minutes apart in the birthing room.
Put our H and h together and it adds up to a really good story of finding the person you really feel deep down love for rather than the dreamy romance kind. There wasn’t angst after angst just the ups and downs of a new relationship, miscommunications, learning each other’s tells, finding their rhythm. The best things is they gave cool off time but put effect into working thru problems and situations.
One of the best parts was towards the end when his family noticed he wasn’t himself. Matt guessed that Riley’s relationship had gone south and wanted to help him fix it, as in immediately. As the reader I was thinking that Matt’s reaction was what Riley needed (the other sibs jumped in too) but Matt was there as Riley’s strong support. But, (without giving much away) as the chapter went on I found out the second reason Matt wanted Riley to be as happy as he himself was. That was a little unexpected but then Matt is no dummy. However, Riley has a light bulb moment about how and where his feelings for Lauren began - abdgewasnt

My favorite of the Walsh series

I have enjoyed all of the Walsh books but this one had me routing for the characters immediately. They were flawed and deep and real.

Every feel imaginable

Kate Canterbary will make your eyes bug out with disbelief, then wrap you up in the warmest hug. After that she'll break your heart into a million pieces. She'll also put it back together, even better than before.
Read the whole Walsh series, to get all the feels, in the right order.
Lucy Rivers & Christian Fox... just the best.

Love this book

Everything about this audiobook is fantastic.
The narration dream team of Lucy Rivers and Christian Fox always produce the goods.
The story of the youngest Walsh, Riley is filled with heart and soul and shenanigans.
This audiobook is on the permanent list of repeat listens.
