Stunned

I have scores of titles in my library and for better or worse this is my first review. That being said I am a william w johnstone fan. I have sequentially listened to the First Mountain Man series and aside from one title that was simply not my cup of tea, I loved the books. This title however blew me away in that the tenor of the writing was such a departure from the previous that I couldn't wait for it to end. The creativity and story telling seemed to vanish. It is hard to recall how many occasions of cut and paste were encountered but suffice to say it was awful. If the author was not named on title I would have credited I to a college freshman submitting a midterm paper started three hours prior to submission.

Not to pile on but if you have been drawn into the series as narrated by J Rodney Turner (fabulous), this shift to George Guidall will set your teeth on edge. I noticed this was a book later in the series , I believe 2004 as opposed to the others written nearly a decade earlier. Maybe tried of writing, ghost writers or just was off. Best I can say buyer beware.

Upset for 2 reasons

When you listen to nine books then the voice of the character is don by a different person it is disappointing.

Also, I am disappointed because this is the last in the series to be done audible. I would have continued to purchase the rest of the series.

Miss Rodney Turner’s Narration

This is a good story, performed by a wonderful narrator, but I associate him with Gabriel Allon or Walt Longmier, not Preacher. Rodney Turner is Preacher.

Missing J Rodney Turner

Loved this story as much as all the other stories written about Preacher. I cannot, however, give this recording more than two stars. The new voice for Preacher, George Guidell, is just awful. First, his narration is just reading words on the page. He is not telling a story, he is reading a story. His voice makes Preacher sound weak and girly, not like a seasoned mountain man. The story was well written, as always. The narration was so far below par that I couldn’t wait for the story to be finished. If Mr. Turner was unable to narrate, Danny Campbell would have been a much better choice. This narration was disappointing.

the narrator deal

Here's the deal. many seem put off by the lack of voice depth in George's performance here and that's understandable to a point. yet with the retirement of previous narrators we who have experienced George's amazing work through the years have no such qualms and are thrilled to have him. gonna say this once. greatest narrators of time. 1. Frank Muller,
2. George Guidall and the new by far #1. RC Bray. square biz. enjoy finding out.

Preacher for president!

Great expression of frontier, honesty, dignity, courage, all the things you find lacking in today’s society

It’s all about Dog!!

This is my 6 book in the series I’ve listened to. Great series and great story but I hate that they replay chapters from previous books word for word. It’s not needed and kills the story for a bit. Also the he new narrator is pretty bad, he makes Preacher sound like a little kid or woman at some times. Put some bass in your voice please sir! Still a good listen.
