Publisher's summary

David was the “man after God’s own heart,” yet his life was characterized by hardship. During his lifetime, he was fired, became homeless, grieved the loss of three children, built a nation, lost almost everything after his affair with Bathsheba, and then saw a work that was dear to him given to another.

Rejected, dejected, and worn down, David took out his pen and wrote half of the Psalms as prayers to the Lord. As he did, he experienced an awe of God that he has left for us to meditate on when we struggle through our own heartache.

Praying with David: Honest Prayers for Hard Seasons will encourage you to keep crying out to God in the hard seasons. You will experience strength, hope, guidance, comfort, and peace—just as David did.

Very Encouraging For Anyone in a Valley

I found this to be a very practical and timely read as our family recently suffered the loss of many close family members. The author provides great commentary on the prayers of David while focusing primarily on Psalm 23. He speaks from some of his personal experiences of "walking through the valley of the shadow of death" as well which makes this book even more relatable. I enjoyed the narration which was rich and just engaging enough without being distracting. I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling in their own valley. It is also a great read for people riding high that realize valleys will certainly come in the future that their hearts need to be prepared for.

A comfort. Lovely to fall asleep to. Restorative.

As someone who has been floundering in what has seemed like an endless dark valley of grief and despair, and who has been reading through the Bible for the first time, and who only knew of David from his famous fight with Goliath, but not that he is credited with writing many of the most well loved Psalms, this book does a beautiful job of illuminating who David was and how he would turn to God, depending on Him for guidance, comfort and strength. To fear not. To know we are never alone. To know we follow a righteous and loving God. Many especially comforting biblical passages are included, and prayers that we can pray, as well as stories from the author’s life and inspiring historical references. This is a special book, illuminating and encouraging, and is made even more special and comforting by narrator Mark Korff, whose deep, soothing voice and measured delivery allows the message to be received like a healing balm for a troubled spirit.
I first listened to it while gardening, and found it interesting and uplifting, then listened again to quiet my mind at days end, and found it wonderfully soporific. A blessing.

Good perspective on Psalm 23

Good Christian living book. Narration was one of the better ones on Audible. I'd recommend it.
