Overcoming the Never-Enough Mentality to Experience True Kingdom Abundance

Prosperity. It's one of the most dividing words in the church. Some pastors use it to tell their congregations that God will make them all rich, rich, rich! Others spurn the word and insist that true Christlikeness is found in forsaking all worldly riches and possessions.

The truth is, both are right - and both are wrong.

With refreshing honesty, humor, and keen insight, best-selling author and pastor Kris Vallotton mines the Scriptures in an eye-opening study of what the Bible really says about money, poverty, riches, and wealth. And what he finds is sure to shake up what you thought you knew - including these surprising truths:

  • Jesus was not poor and homeless
  • Heaven is described in the language of wealth
  • Poverty is a mindset that holds us back from true wealth
  • You determine your wealth based on how much, and how well, you love yourself
  • God wants all his children to be wealthy, though not everyone should be rich

Kingdom prosperity begins from the inside out. When you learn to cultivate a mindset of abundance, no matter your circumstances, you will begin to experience the wealth of heaven in every area of your life.

Amazing Book on wealth for Christians and all

I was very excited to hear that Kris wrote a book on wealth. It enlightened me to some many non productive thoughts and beliefs I had.

I was convicted about things I had previously done and considered doing as it pertained to money but moreso encouraged that wealth is from God, there are laws about it and principles to obtain it.

I believe everyone should read this book even if it’s not your goal to be financially wealthy but wealthy in terms of quality of life and mentally about how you see wealth and riches.

GREAT GREAT BOOK! Oh and he’s soooo funny.

Falls short compared with Randy Alcorn's book

I listened to this book shortly after listening to "Money, Possessions, and Eternity" by Randy Alcorn. Two different takes on the same subject. Alcorn's takes is more grounded in scripture. If you're on the fence, go with Alcorn - or at least read/listen to both and decide for yourself.

Worth the Listen

Kris uses great examples/stories to illustrate the points he makes. This makes the subject matter easy to digest and follow. You will walk away being inspired to think different and approach situations different than before.

Very interesting approach to wealth.

I will start this review by saying that I am a big fan of Kris Vallotton. I really do appreciate him, Bill Johnson, and Bethel church. Their impact has been huge in Christendom and in my life. I wasn't necessarily raised in a household that provided very good teaching on wealth or finance. As I am growing to understand finances more. I knew that if I would listen to this book I would be challenged. I liked a portion of this book where Kris divided general statements about what poverty, riches, and wealth are - it was a good starting point. Unfortunately, the further into the book you get the more it deteriorates into being predominately about financial blessing. He references how wealth isn't just about money - rather it is more of an internal framework and fruitfulness - but in the end it felt like it revolved more around the $$$. Now do not misunderstand me, this is not a "Health and Wealth" teaching/book, Kris does a good job of not throwing out the "baby with the bath water" and re approaches some of the teachings of how the Lord intends for His people to be. I was put out by some of his comments with the homeless. He referenced that they were selfish and only thought about themselves. I don't disagree with those statements but reducing people to their needs is extremely reductionistic, knowing that most homeless people are in "survival" mode (both my wife and I have experience working with the homeless). It saddened me that his response wasn't more compassionate toward those who are homeless. It felt like He really misses the heart of God with how blunt he is toward the Homeless. It is really hard to overlook Jesus's words about the greatest man who ever lived, who Jesus said was John - who was essentially a wild man who lived in the wilderness and ate bugs for dinner. He wasn't a big financially wealthy businessman, he was a prophet who dedicated his life to make the people of his time know that the Messiah was coming. I appreciate Kris's transparency in his process with trusting the Lord with finance. He does have a lot of "Gold" in his history with the Lord, the little moments where the Lord teaches him are worthy of being unpacked. I would love to hear more about building the wealth aspect - what are the other measures of wealth and how do we build those? How do we become more loving, patient, kind, gentle, and self-controlled? To wrap this review up - I found myself agreeing with about 40% - challenged by 20% - and resisting about 40% of his applications. This book was a real mixed bag for me.

Incredible Book!!!

One of the first books I've come across that truly sheds light on the fact that true wealth always begins from within. It's our hearts in the Lord, being fully persuaded in the atoning works of Jesus, and what this means for our identities in the Lord that positions for prosperity and wealth. I greatly enjoyed his message on our capacity for more, revelation that comes to friends of God and not slaves, and his questioning of why the people who deny God display more creativity than those who follow Jesus. This is a great book for someone who desires a different perspective on wealth and prosperity.

ENCOURAGED to keep going!!!

I absolutely LOVE the truth that Kris enlightened me with in his revelation teaching of what it truly means to be wealthy v being rich....it has stirred my heart to keep stepping out and taking the God appointed risks required to use the ‘talent’ He has placed within me so I don’t ‘lose it’ (where I’ve been held back by fear) and to build wealth God’s way to build a legacy for my children and the community I love and live in.

It’s been a challenging couple of years financially since beginning my own business, but I felt a fresh wave of hope wash over me as I caught the words and wisdom shared right here!

Loved it so much I’m about to start listening to round 2!!!

Thanks again Kris for sharing your wealth of gained knowledge, understanding and wisdom! I never cease to be encouraged by what God has and continues to do through you!

The wealth of this book exceeds wealth itself!

I listened to this book with one goal; to increase my understanding of wealth from a kingdom perspective. What eventuated as I listened was a massive shift in my heart and mind in areas of my life I least expected!! I finally became free from life issues that had been plaguing my heart and mind for months, my hope for a tangible way forward found, and my heart still weeps in gratitude for the light of God that permeated my dark places through this audio. I'm so grateful for Kris and his team and their resolve to see this book come into the hands of the many. My life has forever changed because of it!

Worth listen to/rereading again

It’s probably going to take a number of times listening to this to get it to really sink in. I love the way that Kris explains biblically the differences between poverty, riches and wealth, but then also gives practical examples and ideas to make it work to for you. My mind is spinning with ideas of how I can implement these not just for myself, but for my kids. I want them to grow up with a godly wealth mindset, not the poverty one I am daily overcoming with the help of Jesus. I truly believe this is an area that the Lord wants His followers to grow in globally.

By the way, Kris did a great job narrating the book, I was impressed. Very easy to listen to.
