  • Eight Years of Porshanality, And Whatnot
    Aug 8 2024

Reflecting on my personal and professional journey, I emphasize the importance of courage, perseverance, and surrender in the face of change and the value of seeking guidance and support. I also shared my love for learning and announced the upcoming release of a visual and audio recording on my Substack.

I recently completed my doctoral program, a significant achievement, yet I feel uncertain about my next steps. Moving back in with my parents has been a mutually beneficial arrangement, allowing me to save money and plan my future while providing care for them.

I also discussed the history and future of our podcast and blog, which we launched in 2016 and the podcast in 2018, respectively, and shared a personal anecdote about the early days of the blog. Our initial launch felt like a new beginning, but over time, it evolved into something different. I highlighted the importance of releasing perfectionism and embracing the ongoing process of life. I shared our experiences with surrendering to the process and being present in the moment rather than worrying about the future. I also noted the value of seeking guidance and support, especially during times of transition.

I emphasized the importance of investing in oneself financially and in terms of personal growth. I realized that paid events and opportunities attract a more committed and engaged audience and encourage others to diversify their experiences and interactions. I stressed the need to contribute one's voice and ideas and to value the investments others have made in us. I urged everyone to assess their situation and make the most of the available resources and relationships. I acknowledged the limitations of relying on a single person or source for all answers and encouraged continuous learning and self-improvement.

I shared my love for learning and encouraged the audience to find their own interests and pursue them for the joy of it. I also announced the upcoming release of a visual and audio recording on my Substack, which is available on various podcast platforms. I emphasized my intention to release content on an intuitive schedule and invited the audience to sign up for the Substack, even if they weren't paid subscribers. I expressed gratitude for the audience's support and encouraged them to share the content.

As always, I thank you for joining me. Keep up with me by subscribing to the Substack (porshawilliamsgates.substack.com) and visiting the website (www.porshanality.com).

Did y'all know that I'm in school? Like for real? Well it's true. I've mentioned it a few times, but on this epsiode, I share a bit more about what I am doing in my Doctor of Ministry program along with my academic journey. It is application season here in the US and I also share my thoughts on college and how to choose. As someone who has a ton of college debt, I am a big fan of going where the money is. Additionally, I am a fan of applying to HBCUs, epscially now more than ever. With SCOUTS striking down affrimative action, we have to be stratgeic with our academic plans. This and more on the episode.
