Publisher's Summary

Zoey Donovan - empath, wedding planner, go-to girl for monsters with personal problems - has been marked twice for pickup by Death. On both occasions, Riley the smoking-hot reaper has refused to follow through. For his breach of protocol, Riley is now on probation. For her refusal to die on schedule, Zoey's right to live is challenged. She will have to undergo a life-or-death trial, but she won't know when or where it will happen....

Staying alive might not be so difficult if the Leprechaun Mafia hadn't strolled into town. Now every business owner with the slightest connection to the supernatural community is being threatened with the most appalling bad luck if they don't pay up. Mirrors are smashed, bodies are dropping, and Zoey's still got clients waiting for fabric samples.

With a little luck, she might be able to save everyone and still have time for a second attempt at a decent first date with her favorite reaper.

Fun series, great narration

I'm really enjoying the series. The characters are quirky and fun. The narrator did a great job with timing and voices. This book really starts showing you where the overall story arc is heading. The main character is someone who cares for others. That comes across in how she treats people. I love the family she is building. To me, the series so far, has a unique storyline. I look forward to the next one. Narrator enhanced my enjoyment.

okay this is an "easy read", but it's worth the credit. I haven't listened to the 3rd book yet but I plan on starting right after I finish this. characters r fun and likable, folklore woven into the tale nicely.

I luckily found another entertaining series.

In book two we again have more monsters and defiantly lots of craziness going on. Again all the characters and monsters you knew from the first book are awesome as usual, plus we have new monsters to contend with too. Zoey life is defiantly changing from becoming a midwife to a sea monster, to having unwanted houseguests, and then having to deal with mafia Leprechauns. Who knew there was so many rules to good luck/ bad luck? Well we certainly learn in this book. Only one little thing bugged me about this book and that was sometimes Zoey would make a snide remark that was not right for her character. Her comments seemed to disregard the fact she is an Empath. I'm defiantly going to read more from this series. Same narrator as the first book and she does a great job.

One of the best series I have read in years

This series is just incredibly fun new and interesting. Who has ever heard of a pooka? I listened to the whole book in one day because it is just that good. Plus who needs to go to bed before 2:30 when they have to be up at 5:30 :)

This book picks up a couple months after where the last one left off. Once again Zoey is in over head and doing her best to keep every one safe. I like the interesting take on Leprechauns. The great thing about this series is it can go towards fluffy and whimsical. Naquin keeps it somewhat grounded by showing that there is still death and destruction in the world she built. She balances the fence well with keeping the story from going to dark or fluffy. It allows the reader to really get involved with the story and car about the characters.

Surprisingly better story than anticipated.

This is the second book in the series.

I found both this and the first book surprisingly better than I anticipated. Don't get me wrong, it's not a book to tax the old grey cells, but it's decent enough to wile away a few hours. This book more than the first really starts a story arc, so the ending doesn't totally wrap up. However, the whole series works well together so if you can get into the fantasy of the tale you should be happy buying the rest. It has a nice mix of mystery and fantasy, and although you have an idea of where the story might be going, it's still engaging.

What helps elevate these books is the narrator. She's not somebody I've come across before, but I found she did a good job. Certainly better than some of the narrators out there. The engineering quality was also good, again, that's something that can sometimes lack with the Audible catalogue.

For those reasons I felt happy giving this top marks all round.
