When you have a medical issue, do you go to the doctor, listen to what they have to say, and then fix it? Or perhaps you feel like your medical issues are because you aren’t as young and fit as you used to be? Sounds familiar to me too! Here’s the thing, not all medical issues take a quick 15-minute appointment or are because you just need to eat healthy and exercise. There is a root cause of your medical issue. Jenny Smith joins the podcast to dive into how you can find that root cause through functional medicine to be able to feel your best.

After a lifetime of struggling with personal symptoms and losing loved ones to chronic diseases, Jenny Smith’s mission has become clear to help other women take back their health. After many years of experience in education and social services, she switched gears and became a certified Functional Medicine Health Coach. She helps frustrated women lose weight for good by teaching them a simple approach to weight loss without calorie restriction or excessive exercise. She takes a holistic approach to sustainable weight loss and believes food is medicine.

On this episode, Maura welcomes special guest Marcie Randall. Marcie has worked in direct care with children with learning delays, learning disabilities, and emotional and behavioral challenges. She's coordinated recreational and social programming for children and adults with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, and social anxiety. Marcie has also done volunteer tutoring programs for low-income individuals with dyslexia.

The one consistency in Marcie’s life was always taking on the role of photographer wherever she went. She says that it was a hobby ever since childhood and sort of this fantasy career until she finally had the opportunity and found the courage. To add that professional tag to her work as a photographer, she also had a really life-altering experience of becoming a mom to a disabled child.

To hear Marcie Randall’s story and how to always be true to yourself, join us in this conversation on the Super Real Human Podcast.

Maura is so excited to welcome Amanda Stacey to the podcast. Amanda shares her experience of losing her identity and vanishing behind her family. She was living her life solely for her husband and kids, with no time for herself. No one noticed when she lost an earring, which made her realize how invisible she had become. She tried to be happy with her role, but when she was inspired to write her book, it was like therapy. She created a strong, powerful character who does not disappear behind anyone and is a powerhouse.

Amanda is a self-published author and a stay-at-home mom. She just released her debut novel, “Born Out of Darkness,” this past January 2023.

Join Maura and Amanda in this discussion to hear all about what inspired the book and get a little look inside Amanda’s life and how she is a Super Real Human.

These podcasts help keep me balanced.

I've been listening to these podcasts since their introduction and when it comes to beating yourself up for not being "perfect" it's like she is talking directly to me and walking me back from the edge of that cliff. Thanks, Maura! ~ Kim / KCSolutionsOM
