Publisher's summary

After countless cycles of being an unwilling servant for the Umorfae in Lacausia Palace, Naiya Azal is finally doing something to change the fate of her Syrenni sisterhood. However, she has a problem, one she created herself. Her intrigue with Praetor Locrien—one of the Umorfae guards she is trying to subvert—has taken a turn. No longer just useful for information, the relationship has grown to something she’s quickly losing control over.

Plight of the Syrenni is a Vale Born prequel novella, meant to be listened to after book one of the series.

Thumbs up

Enjoyed this character’s point of view and loved the Vale Born novel, so to hear this played out and gain a new insight into how everything came to be is great! Feels like I’m listening to a movie i would want to watch

Naiya

I recommend listening to Vale Born first. This is a prequel novella to that. It is short, but fully engrossing. I found it easy to complete in one sitting. (Well, one listening, as I tend to do everything except sit when listening to audiobooks.) A Syrenni slave, Naiya, develops feeling for her jailor/guard. Overall goo character an world building. Narration was well done.

Intense!

This prequel novella is packed full of story! I felt intensely immersed in this world, it was worth the quick read for sure! You’ll understand how everything came to be for our favorite vale born, Lily, (and others like her) who was dropped into book one unexpectedly.
