Short but still sweet

This got me excited about reading more from Mindy. I really like her. The book ended sooner than I had expected! Looking forward to downloading and listening to more.

relatable

i really enjoyed listening to this book. i’m a very outgoing person but i do not enjoy the company of people i have not met before. i love the company of familiar people. i would not say i have social anxiety, but i relate so much with mindy’s stories, and the conclusions of preferring to be lonely than to be bored, and preferring to be lonely than to be with surface level fake friends with whom no true intimacy or vulnerability is shared (that stuff exhausts me). i really appreciated this story (and enjoyed it much more than the first one in the series).

funny and give a great insight into social anxiety. I definitely recommend this audiable.

I felt that

Mindy’s entire perspective on social anxiety all the way back from fourth grade gives me a smile knowing all my inner thoughts about groups of people and fitting in are normal.

Cute and relatable

Picked this up looking for something funny and a little mindless, and this couldn’t have been more perfect. Love the author’s reading, love the relatable comments about being an introvert at social gatherings. It was a nice palette cleanser.

LOVE

I cannot express how much I completely and wholeheartedly love this. I’ve listened to a few other of her Amazon original stories, but this one was my absolute favorite, and one I will definitely listen to again and again. The social pressures of the American daughter of an immigrant family throwing an American party could not have been more entertaining and 100% true. I felt so seen! And there were moments where I literally laughed out loud (especially feeling betrayed by the other “introverted“ celebrities). Even though the story covers lots of separate times in her life, she weaves them together beautifully while being wholeheartedly and unabashedly herself. I absolutely loved it!
