Publisher's summary

Playing with Memory: Lighting Up Dementia Care with Music, Nature and a Very Special Poodle reveals the "Playful Protocol" developed by Linda Zimmer, former puppeteer for Mister Rogers' Neighborhood to help her mother and other residents of a nursing home live playfully in the moment.

Paul Lally, director of Mister Rogers Neighborhood, calls it "a work of art and heart". Sue Halpern, author of A Dog Walks into a Nursing Home says, "Linda Zimmer has done something rare here. She has written a book about memory loss that is hopeful, entertaining, and instructive."

A Wonderful Book for Dementia Related Caregivers!

The stories and use of creative arts, particularly music, is an invaluable tool for rehabilitation and recovery for all ages. This book mainly describes the use of creative arts with older generations and dementia related challenges. I found myself smiling and singing at times with the author and reciting favorite prose and poetry with her. This subject, geriatric mental health, can be depressing to read or learn about. Linda Zimmer's enthusiasm and genuine devotion provides a positive and playful approach to dementia care. I highly recommend this audio book!
