"Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't."

Story
As war moves ever closer, the sleepy English village of Crowmarsh Priors settles into a new sort of normal: Evacuees from London are billeted in local homes. The nightly German air raids become grimly mundane. Rationing curtails every comfort. Men leave to fight and die. And five women forge a bond of friendship that will change their lives forever in this engrossing novel of loyalty, loss, and love in the shadow of World War II.With the hardships of war intensifying every day, the women band together to defeat formidable enemies and find remarkable strength within themselves to help one another. It is a war-forged loyalty certain to endure years and distance. When four of the women return for a celebration fifty years later, their mission is not simply to commemorate or remember. They’ve returned to confront a traitor whose actions cost countless lives — and to avenge one of their own at last.

Great listen
Not a bad story overall. There were some plot issues and moved awfully slow at times but the characters were interesting and story engaging. The voice talent did a top notch job. No complaints there at all.

The story kept me hooked and I was thoroughly entertained.
I just finished this audiobook, OMG! The narrator did amazing! The voices for different characters fit perfectly. The book is very interesting as it takes us on a journey of revelation and we along with April feel eager to know the whole secret. What I liked about the book was that it's plot was totally fresh. Hence, I didn't know what to expect. The story kept me hooked and I was thoroughly entertained.

Good New Series
This book is very Sci Fi in that the main character April wakes up locked in a facility with little to no memory. She is being used as a Lab Rat, if you will. I will not spoil the story but I really did enjoy listening to her adventure of rediscovering who she is and why she is locked up. Well worth the listen as the narrator is great also!

Suspenseful dystopian tale
The story opens with two young women, known as A2 and B2, who have no memory of who they are or where they’ve come from. They are in a sterile environment, a hospital or maybe a lab, and are given daily injections to keep the memories at bay and some kind of vaccine. When the women escape, I was as curious as they were: what’s out there? They were locked up and uninformed. Have they really escaped? What has happened in the outside world? And what were they being vaccinated against?
I was sent this audiobook by the narrator Carrie Coello. She did an amazing job creating a distinct voice for each character. She has a wonderful voice that I enjoyed listening to and a great sense of pacing. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.

interesting listen
Such an interesting and unique story. I kept listening because I had to know what happened. Alas, I'll have to listen to the 2nd book to find out. Not sure if this is dystopian or apocalyptic but something has happened!

A suspenseful escape story
This is a suspenseful escape story about two people trapped in an unknown world. The world is post-apocalyptic and not much is learned about the world in this part of the series. The beginning of the story reminded me of the Xenogenesis trilogy by Octavia Butler where the main character wakes up trapped in an unusual environment and remains trapped there while slowly learning where they are. It also reminds me of the beginning of Butler’s Fledgling story where the main character wakes up with amnesia and you experience the character’s disorientation. Overall the author does a good job of creating a suspenseful escape tale and the narration is excellent in maintaining that tension. I’m looking forward to learning more about the world in the next book.

Great book and narration
I LOVE these types of books. This one did not fail me.
Very mysterious. Tension causing. Edge of your seat story.
Not to mention the narration was wonderful. From the moment she started reading, I was captivated. Her voice is very soothing.
Cant wait for the next book.

Interesting thriller, hard to stop listening!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, trying to puzzle out what was happening and why. It is a captivating post-apocalyptic/suspense novel and I can't wait for the next book to find out what happens next! Do yourself a service and don't read the description before listening/reading the story, just enjoy the mystery as it comes.
