Two weeks ago, the thoughts he was having about the gorgeous women of Rochester would have certainly had him seeing a red card.

Clay Shore's trip to the World Cup was inevitable, right up until the moment his ACL gave out on him. Unfortunately, his fairytale life, living in the perfect house with his high school sweetheart, Remy, was more dependent on the 'Golden Boy' status he once had than he would have ever thought. Pushed out the door rapidly through the legal railroading of his wealthy father-in-law, he decides to restart his life at twenty-seven, in Rochester, buying a house sight unseen next to the Rock-T campus, where he plans to pursue his dream of becoming a writer.

His thoughts of quietly settling down for a reinvention are quickly derailed by his soccer mom real estate agent, Ella, their ten-year age gap, and her girl-next-door Rochester charm. She quickly becomes his Girl Friday and the caretaker of his house, clearing the field for him to focus on his academics up at the university.

University life is far different from what Clay remembers from his first go-around. He quickly falls in with his student advisor, Charlotte and her gaggle of nerdy friends. The gorgeous six-foot plus sister at Chi Omega sorority reintroduces him to college life, opening his eyes to the possibilities. Between the hot graduate student, Feather, teaching his world history class, to Althea Hathaway, his free-spirited older creative writing professor, Clay is starting to realize that he definitely doesn't want to play with the same strategy he had the first time around.

Before he knows it, both Ella and Charlotte are making their plays, each driving towards her personal goals. Those goals aren't the same, however. While the cute single-mom is looking for all the good parts of a husband without taking a second trip down the aisle, the long-legged sorority princess is looking for something she's never had before; a man who has the power to control her. Both think that the laid-back Tennessee transplant is the one for them, and both realize that he doesn't want to have to choose.

Some matches have a clear winner while some close with a draw. Clay doesn't mind, because he's playing for a new league, one in which the dreaded red card doesn't mean game over, it means game on, for a life he had never even fantasized about.
