Welcome to the Healthy Lifestyle Solutions podcast weekly show. I'm your host Maya Acosta. Every week we will feature guests who are either physicians, dietitians, health coaches, or chefs who will tell us about their journeys towards becoming plant-based and how they have now helped others. Every now and then we will feature testimonies by individuals who have seen significant changes in their own lives. The episodes typically run between 40-50 minutes and are released early in the week. Sometimes we will also add bonus episodes in Spanish if our guests are bilingual.     About Melissa Furman

    Melissa Furman is the CEO of MAF Health Coaching, Founder of the Second Youth Wellness Method, is the Co-Founder and event organizer of Tulsa VegFest and the Co-Founder and President of the non-profit organization Plant-Based Green Country. She has a Communication Studies degree from the University of Kansas, earned the Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies  and eCornell as well as the plant-based cooking certificate from the Rouxbe culinary school. She earned her Master Certified Health Coach certification from the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute. Melissa is a life-long learner with a compassionate entrepreneurial spirit and a heart for spreading the message of the plant-based lifestyle to help others achieve better health.  

    In 2019, the first Tulsa VegFest was held which hosted nearly 5000 people, many of whom kept asking “how?” They believed the science the festival speakers conveyed, but they didn’t know how to implement this new eating pattern in their lives. That day changed the trajectory of Melissa’s life. Wanting to help people integrate the plant-based diet into their unique lives, she sought formal education by earning certificates in plant-based nutrition, plant-based cooking and health coaching. 

    She is an accomplished equestrian of over 35 years, and earned her second degree black belt in  TaeKwonDo as an adult while training with her husband and two children.

    About Tania Cantu

    Tania is a 33-year-old social media influencer under the name Plant Based Mexican. Originally from Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, she traveled back and forth between Mexico and the United States from 2001 to 2012.

    She has loved taking care of herself ever since she was a child, and in 2017 she finally followed a plant-based diet and has not looked back since. Her passion is to spread the word about healthy eating, cooking at home, exercising, enjoying nature, and having fun. She posts photos of the food she eats on social media to spread awareness of how delicious plant-based diets can be.
