A high councilor's son has gone MIA out of Cappa Base, the space station orbiting a battle-ravaged planet. The young lieutenant had been wounded and evacuated - but there's no record of him having ever arrived at hospital command.
The colonel quickly finds Cappa Base to be a labyrinth of dead ends and sabotage: the hospital commander stonewalls him, the Special Ops leader won't come off the planet, witnesses go missing, radar data disappears, and that’s before he encounters the alien enemy. Outstanding Story
It takes a lot to impress me when it comes to story telling these days. That being said, this book was a surprise to behold. It was outstanding. The writing was as tight and smooth as it comes. The author, Michael Mammay nailed it. I had to stay up all night because I simply could not stop listening. I blame missing a day of work on this book and I am proud of it. I cannot say enough about the superb narration by R.C. Bray. Just top form all the way. The mystery aspect of the story told with a compelling scifi element coupled with the combination of story genres ranging from cop thriller to die hard military story telling was so refreshing as to be a glass, real glass, of cold water to a parched person exiting the desert. If you enjoy cop stories, mystery stories,military saga's, and sci-fi, then by all means, add this book to your collection. You owe it to yourself to enjoy this book. Buying the second book was a no brainier.

Nooooooo! I mean yes.... I mean nooooooo! Great story. RC Bray great as always. No spoilers here but man oh man. If there ever was a book that deserves a sequel......demands a sequel it’s this book.
When the story ended I screamed noooooo in my head. There has to be more! I must have more. I don’t know if there is a sequel but I am going to search right now. Great story.

Mostly great
The first 3/4 of the book was wonderful. Part police procedural, part sci-fi/space marines. Clever writing. Fantastic narration. The final part, starting with the painfully extended battle, weirdly changed course into a conspiracy novel. Still, it's good enough to make me want to read part 2.
