Missing something

I really had a hard time getting into this audiobook. The story didn’t really have much as far as action and was a simple boy and girl separated as children suddenly find each other and are instantly in love. I found myself falling asleep at times. Narration was okay

HJ Bellus never fails to make me cry!!!!

This book!! Baylor and State grew up together in horrible circumstances, and ended up wards of the state. State ends up getting adopted and Baylor ends up with Miss Tammy.. and Baylor has never forgotten State, but he never came looking.

Years later, Baylor is still with Miss Tammy, taking college classes, and helping take care of Roe, who was abused in school before Miss Tammy got her. One night, while working her server job, Baylor waits on a table…. And State is there….

This starts an amazing story of love, loss, perseverance, heartache… and such great characters and emotion.. that you have to listen!!! It’s worth more time than it takes to listen.

Veronica Pace was fantastic! Curt Campbell is a new narrator to me, but I’d listen again.

Amazing second chance

This was the sweetest story and pulled at all my heart strings. The narrators did a great job narrating and were able to really bring out the depths of the characters through the intonation. It had me smiling, laughing, crying and just so hopeful in true love.

Must read/listen!!!!

Great

Any additional comments?

This audiobook was given to me for a honest unbiased review. This was a great emotional read. A very sweet but sad story. This second chance love story really gets emotional, but it is worth it.One of the best books i have read in a while.

Sweet and Simple

This is a sweet romance with a simple story line and plot. There's some heat and passion but not a whole lot meat. It's an enjoyable enough listen with some laughs and cries but not a complex plot. This is my first book by HJ Bellus and I would be willing to give this author another try.

Narrators are okay but Veronica Pace's male voice is just too feminine.

Worth the reduced price I paid, but I wouldn't give a credit.

Fantastic story!

As always, HJ Bellus delivered an amazing story of second chances full of love, passion, and redemption.

State was completely swoon-worthy! I loved how he was very protective of Baylor and Rowe. They were his girls and damn if anyone dared to hurt them--they'd face his wrath!

Baylor was a great heroine too. Once out of her shell, she became stronger and confident. She took charge of her life and didn't let her past define her or keep her from getting a second chance with State.

Miss Tammy!!!!! Loved her!!! Her character and Rowe's were an FANTASTIC addition to this already amazing storyline.

The book itself is a strong five-star read for me! It had everything I enjoy in a good book and I certainly devoured it. Once I started listening, I didn't want to stop. HJ Bellus truly delivered a mist read!

As for the narration, I really did not care much for it. Veronica Pace's voice for State was not masculine at all and she made Baylor sound like a little girl. Her voice for Rowe, however, was a HIT. Towards the end, when Curt Campbells voice came on, I got all kinds of excited because I wanted to get "State's voice" but I was let down. His accent through me off completely and had me looking forward to Veronica's narration.

All this said, this book is still a MUST. HJ Bellus knows how to write a GREAT book and Pinky Promise only confirms that even more.

Five stars to the story.
Three stars to the narration.

Sweet story

If you could sum up Pinky Promise in three words, what would they be?

Heart wrenching sweet

What does Veronica Pace and Curt Campbell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really enjoyed Veronica Pace and Curt Campbell's narration. Veronica brought the emotion and feelings needed for this story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book made me cry for sure but not right away.

Any additional comments?

This story had it's ups and downs and happy and sad feelings. State and Baylor reuniting after all these years unexpectedly was a little hard to believe. If State was missing her that bad I think he could have found her or tracked her down through Miss Tammy.

My other thing that bothered me was the major conflict of the story and something I think could have and should have been huge just fizzled after the pizza place conflict.

Other than that I enjoyed the story and the few twists it provided. I was reading reviews on another site before I typed this and was a little irritated at them and disagreed with their logic so I would suggest don't read the reviews and give this book a chance.

This audiobook was provided to me for an honest review.

It'll Pull On Your Heartstrings

H.J. Bella delivers a touching, heartwarming story that will make you both smile, and make your heartache. Due to personal experience my heart really goes out to both foster kids and parents. State (H) and Baylor (h) find themselves in foster care, and while they promised to be there for each other, they ended up being separated when State is adopted. Years later, fate has them crossing paths again, but State never really gave up on looking for Baylor, or moved on. He wants to pick up where they left off, and be there for Baylor; however, due to her past Baylor has issues with abandonment and trust.

The secondary characters were great, and really added to the overall plot. Pinky Promise is a sweet story, with some mild passion, heat, and angst.

The narration was great! I received this audio from the publisher for an honest review.
