Publisher's Summary

Stokely leads a solitary life, trying to do all the right things. He has a solid, respectable job, a properly decorated, respectable apartment, and goes to work every single day, no matter what. But it’s Christmas, and he hates Christmas, especially since his one guilty pleasure, listening to Asher Banks on the radio, is ruined with upbeat, holiday garbage.

Asher is the polar opposite - he loves Christmas to a fault and schedules himself into the ground with fundraisers to help the local community. When Asher and Stokely meet during one of the holiday spectacles Asher has thrown together, sparks fly, but neither one of them has ever had a real Christmas - or a real home. Will they be able to make one with each other?

This 19,000-word novelette was previously published as part of an anthology.

A sweet holiday story.

I really enjoyed this short audiobook. It's the first book I've listened to that was read by Dennis Adams. He has a very pleasing voice to listen to and I would certainly listen to more books that he reads but this is the only one on Audible that I could find.

The story is really sweet with Stokely being a bah-humbug type character and Asher the one who loves Christmas. I really liked how Asher was able to change Stokely's opinion of the holidays.

A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

Short & Sweet

A quick listen that's a nice holiday story. Stokely and Asher are total opposites but mesh perfectly together. It's a short and sweet listen for the holidays. The narrator was okay with some glitches and not much emotion for the story. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audiobook.

Nice holiday story.

I think this is a great holiday story. Asher and Stokely are perfect for each other even if they are opposite of each other. This story definitely gets me ready for the holidays. Dennis Adam's did a great job in the narration. There are a few glitches but overall I like how he brings this story to life.

Audio book review:

Stokely and Asher were adorable together.

Stokely had a rough start in life and hated the holidays. His entire demeanor is very staunch and proper and it was so fun to see how Asher sanded down his edges.

Asher runs a popular radio show and works himself silly, never taking breaks. When he meets Stokely, he tries to get him into the Christmas spirit and ends up having more fun than he thought he would.

I love when the relationships are believable, and Ki Brightly is skilled at creating characters that are different, yet meet in the middle perfectly.

I totally recommend the audiobook.

Stokley and Asher

This is a great short story. I enjoyed these characters and the backstory. I think it could have been longer for sure. Narration was great minus a minor glitch.

sweet holiday treat...

Pining for Perfect by Ki Brightly is a sweet holiday novelette that was previously published in an anthology but is now separately available.
This story is short and sweet and a nice treat for the holiday season. Its opposites attract for Stokely and Asher... but when they come together they learn that creating new memories together is what will make this Christmas Season special. These characters were great and I loved them together...my only complaint is I wanted more.

Narration is done by Dennis Adam's. Fantastic recording -clear, clean and smooth. Voicework is fantastic - easy to listen to and pleasant sounding voice. The characters come to life and the story even more entertaining and enjoyable.
