Publisher's summary

Who filled the trough? Who set the table at the banquet of greed? How has it been possible for corporate pigs to gorge themselves on grossly inflated pay packages and heaping helpings of stock options while the average American struggles to make due with their leftovers?

Provocative political commentator Arianna Huffington yanks back the curtain on the unholy alliance of CEOs, politicians, lobbyists, and Wall Street bankers who have shown a brutal disregard for those in office cubicles and on factory floors.

The media have put their fingers on pieces of the sordid puzzle, but Pigs at the Trough presents the whole ugly picture of what's really going on for the first time: a blistering, wickedly witty portrait of exactly how and why the worst and the greediest are running American business and government into the ground. Arianna Huffington turns the spotlight on the tough reforms we must demand from Washington to stop the voracious corporate predators from eating away at the very foundations of our democracy.

Devastatingly funny and powerfully indicting, Pigs at the Trough is a rousing call to arms and essential listening for all those who are outraged by the scandalous state of corporate America.

Revealing and Sarcastic

While the information in this book is revealing and extensive, the writing comes off as extraordinarily sarcastic. I'm listening to it as I write this and I move between outrage and irritation. While I consider myself a member of the "left", this is a piece of militant liberalism and hurts the cause as much as it helps it. I can't help but feel that the information and stories in this book would have been better served by a different reader reading information that was framed in a different way.

Another eye-opening expose

The major scandals discussed in Pigs at the Trough are widely known, but the book illuminates many less-well known scandals as well, showing the extent to which greed, and callous disregard for the devastation caused by that greed, has become a part of American corporate culture. Ms. Huffington uses the pigs metaphor to powerful and amusing effect. Especially shocking is her insider perspective on the dubious workings of Boards of Directors and the extent of Congressional/business incestuousness. The only down side to this audiobook is that the narrator is not Arianna Huffington, whose appealing and interesting voice would have been far preferable to that of the actual reader, whose voice is an odd combination of affected cynical sophistication and cuteness, sounding like a cross between Jackie Kennedy and Betty Boop.

Dated, But Sadly Still Relevant

This is a good rundown of corporate greed, political corruption, and how they intermixed during the W Bush Administration. The depressing truth is that the crimes and moral travestries we see within the US Congress and Trump Administration are almost identical mirror images.
