Publisher's summary

Tyler Blackwood is definitely not making it to work on time. When he steps into the path of a speeding car, he’s whisked away by a flaming bird to a perilous realm of shapeshifters and magic straight out of ancient myth. He’d always wished for a chance to redo his life—but not like this.

Immediately kidnapped by monsters, Tyler is rescued by Kalistratos, a ruggedly handsome rogue with the power to shift into a phoenix. Sticking by his savior’s side—even if Kalistratos wants nothing to do with him—is the only way he’s going to find a way back home. And it’s the only way he’ll survive when everyone wants to capture him.

Here, he is an omega; valuable, alluring, and capable of bearing children. Tyler knows that’s impossible—how the hell can a man get pregnant? But when his belly mysteriously swells overnight, he realizes his journey down the rabbit hole is just beginning.

Decent story, completely flat narration

Story itself was just alright. Typical alpha/ omega story with a bit of isekai and fantasy thrown in. But I just couldn't figure out why the narration sounded so flat, especially in high tension scenes or high heat and romantic moments. Then at the end it said it was narrated with Virtual Voice, and it all made sense. I guess I can't complain because it was free with my membership, but seriously it's a big mistake to use AI to tell a romance story. It's super tough to become emotionally invested when everything sounds dull. It was like listening to a text book.

Where is part 2?!

Where is part 2!? U can’t just leave it like this!! Does he keep the baby!! Does he find a way back!? I really had no problem with the virtual voice I do wish there was a bit more emotion, but over all loved the fantasy part!

the story is amazing

I love the story! It was fun, adventurous sweet, and sexy. unfortunately the virtual voice has no soul. it was better than completely monotone but there was no change in voices to denote character differences or emotion. I got this book with Kindle Unlimited and did not pay for the audiobook, I would have returned it. as it is I highly recommend you read the book because the audiobook takes away so much from The Fun of the story! Super excited for book two to come out and there is a cliffhanger warning for book 1!

Virtual voice equals no emotion

I wish I could have gotten into this one. The emotionless virtual voice kept me at arms length from embracing the characters and story line.

Couldn't finish it

The story sounded like it would be very good but the virtual voice was absolutely horrible. I couldn't finish it.

AI Narrator ruins story

This audible was narrated by Virtual Voice. In other words, AI. I purchased this audible without paying attention to the narrator and when I realized that AI narrates this book, I begrudgingly thought to give it a chance.

The story itself could have been 4 stars, but I was too distracted by the monotoned voice with incorrect inflection to portray the mood or meaning of the sentences. At one point the Virtual Voice actually said “He apostrophe S” instead of He’s… That part actually made me laugh at the ridiculousness.

I get that Virtual Voice is supposed to be the new innovative way to listen to books. But in reality it is just a cheaper way to make more Audiobooks and the quality of it shows. There is no comparison to the quality of an actual person narrating books.

I will not be listening to anymore Virtual Voice narrations as it ruined my experience for this new to me Author.
