Fantastic storyline

Wow! What can I say... I sure wasn’t expecting what the author brought to the table. The story was amazing and the world she created was very creative. I can honestly recommend this book and I can’t wait for the next installment to be available on audiobook.

Cool premise, entertaining and good characters

The beginning really drew me in and I loved the sweet connection between Ana and Dakota. They’ve been best friends forever and are now roommates. Ana has loved Dakota for a long time and it’s looking like he loves her too. Loved that we get POVs from both of them too; plus a couple others.

Unfortunately, Ana grew up in an abusive home and her father has kidnapped her and beaten her badly. She is saved by a man, but her world will never be the same. She’s taken to another dimension, where she learns she is prophesied to save the people from a dark evil. She misses Dakota, but she wants to help the people in this new dimension so she begins training to be a warrior.

I was loving this until there was a time jump; I hate those! And that was just at the 3 month time jump, then there was a 5 year one, and it made me so sad that so long has past. I thought Ana should’ve tried harder to figure out how to make contact with Dakota. It was too much time in between. Dakota and Ana have both had some major changes in their lives; they’ve each had their own individual journeys, so it was interesting seeing the type of people they became without the other.

Despite the time jump, I still really enjoyed the story and I loved all the action and magic stuff. Plus, Ana kicks butt! She just needs a little more self confidence and to not take everything onto her own shoulders. The author had some awesome, unique elements to the story.

Also, I listened to the audio and the narrator did a great job.

On a side note, I saw that this book had been previously published and I happened to have that version of the book on my Kindle, so I wanted to see the differences. Now I’m sad though because I want the second book in the old version and it’s no longer available on Amazon. *Sigh* I liked that the relationship between Dakota and Ana went more in depth in the older version; a bit more passion. There’s also an added relationship complication in the new version that made me sad after reading about a certain moment between Dakota and Ana in this book and knowing they won’t ever have that in the new version of this series. The author cut the story down quite a bit for this re-released version too, but she did add other elements that I enjoyed. I just really want to read both version and am sad I can’t.

This new version is like the more streamlined version and feels more YA to me than the older version. Which isn’t bad, just different. Still really enjoyed this book and am super excited to see where this series goes!

great story, great voice

My first from both the author and the narrator. Love the cover.
The story is captivating, tagging along Anastasia on her journey was exciting She becomes the strong woman it was predicted. The friendship between her and her best friend Dakota saved her many times and it starts to develop into something more but the evil forces intervene in her life yet again. Quite a revelation when she learns who and what she is. My heart was breaking for her. From this point the story picks up speed and I could not stop listening, it has a HFN ending, and I am looking forward to continue the story.
I hope Ms. Navarro will narrate the next one too. Her voice is a delight to listen to. The characters got their own voices, I could hear all the nuances of the emotions displayed by them and their own temperaments were captivated with precision. I will check out her other works for sure. She will go on my 'eargasm' list.

Great

Not sure how Phoenix fits in other than the tattoo she got on her back to cover her scares but this is a great book. I loved the details of two plains living side by side and how she is attached to both now. I hope she can find a way to save and balance both. #AudiobookObsession

Edge of Your Seat Magic

Phoenix is the first book in the Prophecy series. Anastasia and Dakota’s story is SO good! I found the book very compelling - it’s full of twists, turns and adventures. The world building is intricately done and the characters have a lot of depth. The Narrator did a great job the only thing I didn’t love is I find the pause between chapters awkwardly long - it’s just long enough to wonder if it mysteriously paused before it starts the next chapter 😬🤷🏼‍♀️ #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Great Book!

This is the first book I have read by Jessica Wayne. It is a Paranormal Romance filled with action.
The book keeps you guessing. Characters are well developed and the story is told from different points of view.

The narrator was wonderful.

I was given this review copy and this is my honest review.

Great start to a series

This was a great book with the promise to be the start to a great series! I loved the two main characters and found them easy to connect to and cheer on. The portal aspect was believable and not cheesy, which was refreshing! Anastasia and Dakota had a beautiful relationship and I look forward to seeing what happens next! I received this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Great Introduction to the Series!

This was my first Jessica Wayne's book, and the first book in the prophecy Series, a Fantasy Romance. This is a great introduction to the Series. I love Anastasia and Dakota's story, and I love to have both POV. The secondary characters are interesting. The storyline is suspenseful, fast-paced, action packed and filled with adventure, twists and turns. The world building, between Earth and Terrenia, is well done. Now, I can't wait to know what happens next. Kelsey Navarro did an amazing job with the narration! All characters were easy to distinguish. She has a beautiful voice. I highly recommend this audiobook.

Very Enjoyable

Ana at one point is described as being adorable, and this for me is how I felt about Kelsey's narration. Adorable, sensitive and very easy to listen too.

She rises like a Phoenix

I really felt for Anastacia in this book, her parents were abusive, she fled from the as soon as she could. Her best friend Dakota and his family took her under their wing, and she made a life for herself, was happy, and then her father turns up and drags her to her family home, beats her near to death then everything changes.
I loved this book, it was told so well thanks to Kelsey Navarro, she made the story come alive.

interesting concept

This was definitely a unique story in some ways but I felt like I've read it before.

A girl who think she's unimportant but is the most powerful person in another world. In love with her best friend but is torn away from him right as they admitted to have feelings for each other. Only she can save everyone.

What I liked about it:
-The pace: This was such a well paced novel. While it took place over a good bit of time, I never felt rushed or bored. Wayne did a fantastic job on giving you the exact scenes in the right order.
-The characters: I absolutely loved the characters. I think they had a great development and really believable.
-The love story: Honestly, I got behind it. What I'm really glad is that they didn't just forget each other and we're with other people when reunited. It was refreshing that their reunion was genuine.

What I didn't like:
-While I enjoyed the story, I felt like it brought nothing new. I didn't feel like anything really stood out to me.
-The bad guys: They honestly just felt so generic.
-POV: My goodness the amount of unnecessary POVs

Narration Review (please note this does not affect my rating of the story):
The narration was fantastic for this story. I felt like she did a really great job for bringing this novel back to life. There were so many different point of views and while she did great, I wish this would have been a dual narration. However, I would highly recommend the audio for this story

Enjoyable story and great narration

Kelsey Navarro really brought these characters and this story to life so beautifully.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The characters felt so real that at some points I wanted to coach them, lol. The world they inhabit intrigued me no end. The story sucked me right in and carried me through the book. I really need to know what is going to happen next...

Brilliant!

I'm going to be completely honest and state that I wasn't fully feeling this book once I first started it. I was underwhelmed with the storyline and lack of details. A lot of it felt brushed over. I kept reading though. I'm glad I did. I fell in love with the story. I can't wait to read the rest.

If it weren't for such amazing character development, I wouldn't have given this story a real chance. And that's sad because this wound up being a pretty amazing story. The characters, especially the main two, were so easy to connect with. There were a few characters that I wish had a bigger role, but maybe they will in future books!

The narrator was the other reason I didn't put this book down. She has incredible talent. I was pulled into the story and the emotions because of her. I hope she goes on to narrate the rest of the series. I also look forward to listening to more books narrated by her.

All in all, it was a great story. I may not have enjoyed it at the beginning, but I warmed up to it immensely. I fully recommend this book and look forward to reading the rest of the series. I'd love to find people who have also read this book to talk about it with them.

Great Read/Listen

Phoenix by Jessica Wayne is book one in the Prophecy Series that I listened to on audio narrated by Kelsey Navarro. Currently book one is the only one available on Audio. However, you can still get access to the rest of the series on Kindle or Paperback.

This is the first book of Jessica’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. She does an amazing job pulling you into the story. I just had to know how it was going to end. The story does end on a cliffhanger, but that’s no surprise since the rest of the series has already been released.

Kelsey did an amazing job with her narration. I loved the fact that she used different voices for each character. It makes it so much easier to follow along with the storyline. I cannot wait to listen to more of her projects in the future.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Fantasy books.
