Sci-fi

If you enjoy a good sci-fi romance full of action, then you'll definitely enjoy this book. It's a great start to the series, some jumping around on the timeline. But it's not an overly confusing way. Kelsey does an excellent job with the narrative.

Entertaining

This is the first book of Jessica Wayne’s that I’ve read/listened to and it didn’t disappoint. Kelsey Navarro did a wonder job of bringing the characters and world that Jessica created to life. Romance, heartbreak, magic, and action. This book has them all. I can’t wait to see what book 2 brings.

Exciting story with lots of twists

I enjoyed this book. Jessica Wayne is a new author to me and I am looking forward to more from her because her writing is fantastic. Ana was such an interesting character. You would think with her background with abuse that she would be too timid to become such an amazing warrior but she totally kills it. I loved Dakota. He was so sweet and so helpful and just so amazing all around. I had a few issues with Ana and how she just left Dakota and I feel like some things were a bit rushed but overall I really liked this book and I am looking forward to the next one. #audiobookobsessionreviewer

Cool premise, entertaining and good characters

The beginning really drew me in and I loved the sweet connection between Ana and Dakota. They’ve been best friends forever and are now roommates. Ana has loved Dakota for a long time and it’s looking like he loves her too. Loved that we get POVs from both of them too; plus a couple others. Unfortunately, Ana grew up in an abusive home and her father has kidnapped her and beaten her badly. She is saved by a man, but her world will never be the same. She’s taken to another dimension, where she learns she is prophesied to save the people from a dark evil. She misses Dakota, but she wants to help the people in this new dimension so she begins training to be a warrior. I was loving this until there was a time jump; I hate those! And that was just at the 3 month time jump, then there was a 5 year one, and it made me so sad that so long has past. I thought Ana should’ve tried harder to figure out how to make contact with Dakota. It was too much time in between. Dakota and Ana have both had some major changes in their lives; they’ve each had their own individual journeys, so it was interesting seeing the type of people they became without the other. Despite the time jump, I still really enjoyed the story and I loved all the action and magic stuff. Plus, Ana kicks butt! She just needs a little more self confidence and to not take everything onto her own shoulders. The author had some awesome, unique elements to the story. Also, I listened to the audio and the narrator did a great job. On a side note, I saw that this book had been previously published and I happened to have that version of the book on my Kindle, so I wanted to see the differences. Now I’m sad though because I want the second book in the old version and it’s no longer available on Amazon. *Sigh* I liked that the relationship between Dakota and Ana went more in depth in the older version; a bit more passion. There’s also an added relationship complication in the new version that made me sad after reading about a certain moment between Dakota and Ana in this book and knowing they won’t ever have that in the new version of this series. The author cut the story down quite a bit for this re-released version too, but she did add other elements that I enjoyed. I just really want to read both version and am sad I can’t. This new version is like the more streamlined version and feels more YA to me than the older version. Which isn’t bad, just different. Still really enjoyed this book and am super excited to see where this series goes! #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

great story, great voice

My first from both the author and the narrator. Love the cover. The story is captivating, tagging along Anastasia on her journey was exciting She becomes the strong woman it was predicted. The friendship between her and her best friend Dakota saved her many times and it starts to develop into something more but the evil forces intervene in her life yet again. Quite a revelation when she learns who and what she is. My heart was breaking for her. From this point the story picks up speed and I could not stop listening, it has a HFN ending, and I am looking forward to continue the story. I hope Ms. Navarro will narrate the next one too. Her voice is a delight to listen to. The characters got their own voices, I could hear all the nuances of the emotions displayed by them and their own temperaments were captivated with precision. I will check out her other works for sure. She will go on my 'eargasm' list.

Phenomenal

Phoenix, the first book in the Prophecy Series, is a brilliantly written fantasy romance. This is an unforgettable story of love, loss, heartbreak, hope, and human connection. I'm completely blown away by Jessica Wayne's imagination and worldbuilding. Her writing is clear, precise, and beautifully descriptive; my attention was captured from the start to the end. The premise is utterly intriguing with parallel worlds overlapping; in one realm, magic reigns true, where evil covets power and to conquer. The characters are well-rounded, with great backstories, genuine depth, and emotions. I thought that Dakota and Anastasia were terrific together. Their connection was palpable, their chemistry charged, and their feelings are moving. Stellar narration by Kelsey Navarro. She honed in on the characters, capturing the emotions and intensity in the scenes. Her performance allowed me to further immerse in this story. Kudos to both author and narrator. 🎧 AudiobookObessionReviewer

Absolutely amazing!

So I received this as an audiobook from the Audiobook Obsession Audiobook tours and it is very much appreciated. So I wanted to start getting into audiobooks because I was doing more hours at work and it would just be hard to pick up a book. I am not usually a fan of audiobooks but this books got me hooked. That hooked that I want to listen to the rest of this series when it finally comes out. So throughout this book I had very much feelings sometimes it was good and then sometimes I didn’t like it. Although it ended with me absolutely loving this book and series and I need to read the next one. I need to know what happens next. So I thought it was very cliche to start off with a nightmare, but you know I ended up loving it anyway. Anastasia sounds like a bit of a brat but that soon changes as she gets to Terrania and she has a complete personality change and she just as a whole person changes so much and I love it. I love how much of a complex character she is. So the romance between Dakota and Anastasia I just don’t see it. It all happened so fast even as best friends. It just felt like there was no connection there as lovers. Although my opinion about their romance totally changed as we neared the end of the book I could really see their connection when they saw each other again. Also fake parents were a veery interesting concept, I also didn’t expect her to be Gregory and Annabelle’s child and it honestly broke my heart that she didn’t get to know before Annabelle died. I’m interested to see what is happening in Terrania and the brutes, the author did a very good job of leaving the reader hanging in the sense. She only let the reader know the information as it needed to be known. I really loved that and she did a great job. Maximum you are a tosser. I love Kayleigh. She was a very interesting animal, I love when the main characters have animals. I just love it. I love tony he’s such a dad and it’s so cute I also love how protective he is when it comes to Anastasia. I am really liking the five year time jump. It’s interesting to see how Anastasia has grown and is still in Terrania and the time jump was definetely needed for the story to work. I love Gregory’s letter. It’s so sweet. I am gutted about how Gregory’s life ended it was a brutal death. Also the cliffhanger how annoyingly frustrating but also can’t wait for the next book. I think I will be waiting for it to be released on audiobook, I really enjoyed the narrator and she definitely nailed the characters’ personalities very well, also how she told the story was amazing. I think she converted me into an audiobook user more than ever. The story kept me hooked I really loved the plot and the characters.

She rises like a Phoenix

I really felt for Anastacia in this book, her parents were abusive, she fled from the as soon as she could. Her best friend Dakota and his family took her under their wing, and she made a life for herself, was happy, and then her father turns up and drags her to her family home, beats her near to death then everything changes. I loved this book, it was told so well thanks to Kelsey Navarro, she made the story come alive. 🎧 AudiobookObessionReviewer

interesting concept

This was definitely a unique story in some ways but I felt like I've read it before. A girl who think she's unimportant but is the most powerful person in another world. In love with her best friend but is torn away from him right as they admitted to have feelings for each other. Only she can save everyone. What I liked about it: -The pace: This was such a well paced novel. While it took place over a good bit of time, I never felt rushed or bored. Wayne did a fantastic job on giving you the exact scenes in the right order. -The characters: I absolutely loved the characters. I think they had a great development and really believable. -The love story: Honestly, I got behind it. What I'm really glad is that they didn't just forget each other and we're with other people when reunited. It was refreshing that their reunion was genuine. What I didn't like: -While I enjoyed the story, I felt like it brought nothing new. I didn't feel like anything really stood out to me. -The bad guys: They honestly just felt so generic. -POV: My goodness the amount of unnecessary POVs Narration Review (please note this does not affect my rating of the story): The narration was fantastic for this story. I felt like she did a really great job for bringing this novel back to life. There were so many different point of views and while she did great, I wish this would have been a dual narration. However, I would highly recommend the audio for this story

Enjoyable story and great narration

Kelsey Navarro really brought these characters and this story to life so beautifully. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The characters felt so real that at some points I wanted to coach them, lol. The world they inhabit intrigued me no end. The story sucked me right in and carried me through the book. I really need to know what is going to happen next...
