Publisher's summary

An epic historical adventure set in ancient Egypt from the New York Times best-selling legend Stephen King has called the "best historical novelist".

One of the world's best-selling authors, Wilbur Smith returns to ancient Egypt in a breathtaking epic that conjures the magic, mystery, romance, and bloody intrigue of a fascinating lost world. Taita, the pharaoh's advisor and hero of Desert God and River God, once again finds himself caught up in a whirlpool of ruthless intrigue that threatens the very foundations of the beloved empire he has pledged his life to protect. Plunged into dangerous and deadly waters more treacherous than the Nile, he must use his intelligence, alchemy, and cunning to protect his pharaoh and keep safe all he loves.

Filled with danger, passion, and a thrilling battle for power, Pharaoh will leave fans of George R. R. Martin, Bernard Cornwell, and Dan Brown rejoicing.

Long but good!

I really enjoyed the book....the characters....and the story. If you have a long drive it is a must.

Brilliant Performance

This is the first time I've heard Mike Grady and he fits this book perfectly. I feel as if he could be Taita himself. Not the best Wilbur Smith book I've read but still a very good read.

different than I expected

I was disappointed that the story did not follow the previous pattern. I was hoping it would be a continuation from the previous stories.

not the Wilbur Smith I know

I've read most of Wilbur Smith Books and truly love them, but this book was a total bust. the performance was very good but everything else was like a brand-new author who'd never written a book before

Wilbur never ceases to disappoint!

I've read nearly every Wilbur Smith novel and have enjoyed them immensely! Great Novelist I was so excited to hear the newest Tahita narrative.

Can’t help but feel this seems lazy

Two problems I had with this book:
1. The entire book is this happened, this is what we did, it worked. This other thing happened, this is what we did, it worked. Now this happened, here’s what we did, it worked. No intrigue, no challenges, no failure. Taita as always is a Gary Stew like no other. I could get very invested because I knew every problem the protagonists would run into they would casually find a way to succeed, usually on the first try.

2. These books are leaving them realm of realism quickly and becoming straight up fantasy.
