Publisher's Summary

The year is 1902 - it's been 23 years since Peter and the Lost Boys returned from Rundoon. Since then, nobody on the island has grown a day older, and the Lost Boys continue their friendship with the Mollusk tribe and their rivalry with Captain Hook.

Meanwhile, in London, Molly has married George Darling and is raising three children: Wendy, Michael, and John. One night, a visitor appears at her door; it's James, one of Peter's original Lost Boys. He is now working for Scotland Yard and suspects that the heir to England's throne, Prince Albert Edward, is under the influence of shadow creatures. These shadow creatures are determined to find a secret cache of starstuff, which fell to London many centuries ago. The starstuff is hidden in an underground vault, which has only one key: the Sword of Mercy, a legendary weapon kept with the crown jewels.

Molly is determined to locate and protect it, but when she suddenly goes missing, it is up to her 11-year-old daughter, Wendy, to keep it out of the Others' clutches. Wendy has heard her mother's stories of a flying boy named Peter Pan, and he may be her only hope of saving the world from a shadowy doom.

Amazing

I am so excited about this new book. I thought after the last in the series the authors were done with it. I am in my 20s and still think this series is awesome. Jim Dale is the best narrator around. I was just looking through to see what he had narrated lately and came across this great book. I hope Mr. Barry and Pearson keep pumping these out. I for one will buy every one of them.

Great Series

I am always on the look-out for child friendly books that I enjoy listening to as well. And that one of my favorite narrators is reading is icing on the cake! I highly enjoyed this entire series, though this particular book took me a little longer to get into than the others. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with these books!

Another great adventure

The Sword of Mercy is another great book from Barry and Pearson. Although the story is a little more predictable I still greatly enjoyed every minute of it. Jim Dale once again did a wonderful job of narrating the story. I hope that they continue the series as I throughly enjoyed all three books.

Don't bother, a total departure from the others

Pure Disney fluff, awkward, forced.. too bad because the star catcher series is otherwise outstanding

Excellent conclusion to the series.

The final instalment of this series takes place many years after the preceding adventures. This makes for some interesting situations. We find out how much things have changed during the intervening period and get to meet Wendy and her brothers, among other new characters.

As with the earlier books, this one is very exciting, funny, very well-written, and excellently narrated. It was a fun romp for my kids as well as for me and the missus.

Highly recommended.

A Chance to Never Grow Up

I started listening to the Peter and the Starcatcher books because I was looking for books narrated by Jim Dale. I loved listening to him read all the Harry Potter books and wanted more. He did a fantastic job with these stories.

The Sword of Mercy, and all the other Starcatcher books are great fun. They are definitely children's books, but as an adult I still had fun returning to Neverland and hearing more about Peter. The first several Starcatcher books explain how Neverland came into being and how Peter became Peter. Those books are far enough back in time that there is no problems with continuity between them and the original Peter Pan book. My one issue with this 4th book is that Peter meets Wendy, John, and Michael as kids and thus it no longer makes sense why he meets them for the first time in the original story. But if you can suspend your disbelief then it's still a fun listen.

A great conclusion to the Starcatchers!

A great conclusion to the official Unauthorized prequels to Peter Pan, with characters returning that we all know and love from the previous three books, with the addition of a character we all know and love.

A satisfying end

Here is a sequel to a trilogy no one expected, and what fun it is! One can only imagine where the story goes from here, should it continue... (let’s hope it does, someday!!) Thanks to Pearson, Barry, and, of course, Mr. Jim Dale for a magical story!

Absolutely Hooked

From the moment I hit play on Peter and the Starcatchers, I've been absolutely enraptured by this series. I've always loved stories about Peter Pan growing up, devouring any I could find, but this series is special. I find it charming how many of the tales I've heard as a child are included in this series and how much of a unique spin they've been given. The characters are dynamic and have a life of their own on the pages of the book. However, and I knew it would be just so, Jim Dale breathes a life into them that is the equivalent of starstuff to our ears. His narration skills have only improved and the many unique voices he gives the characters only helps to immerse the listener in the land of pirates, mermaids, faeries (oh, sorry, bird women), and flying boys with bright red hair. This entire series is a must listen and the authors really delivered with this newest entry into the world of Neverland. Peter and the Sword of Mercy is a wonderful listen from start to finish. Meeting the Darlings after 20 years and feeling the excitement of another adventure is well worth the time to listen. This is one series that I will definitely be listening to for many months to come.
