Classic Peter Pan narrated by Victor Warren

(Performance 4/5 stars) Narrated by Victor Warren

Run Time: 5 hrs and 29 mins

Summary:

The original and definitely not the Disney version of the Peter Pan classic. A boy chases his shadow into a girl’s room and ends up inviting her and her brothers on an adventure.

Additional Comments:

· I’d never heard the original. My only previous impressions were the Disney illustrated movie. Basically, every change they made to the story is for the better.

· This version is dark, and Peter’s an arrogant jerk. The story narrator declares this pretty quickly. The characterization is spot on for that, but it made him not that fun to hear about. This is the storybook hero … and I hate him because he is legitimately forever a spoiled, selfish, idiot child. Oh, he’s clever, but that’s about the extent of his redeeming qualities.

· 4/5 stars The performance is solid. The voices are distinguishable. The reading is smooth and correctly inflected.

· Not sure how this became a classic. It’s not very kid-friendly. Way more outright murders and death by meaningless fights going on.

· It’s certainly fantasy. There are a lot of excellent world-building elements.

Conclusion:

If you want to see where it all began for Peter Pan, go for it. This is a nice reading of it.

A Magical Trip

This is the classic tale of the little boy who never grew up and his friends. In book two, we revisit the story of Peter Pan, Wendy and her brothers, John and Michael, and Tinkerbell as they have their magical adventures involving the Lost Boys.
There is little to say that has not already been said about the magical world created by J. M. Barrie or his phenomenal storytelling. The adventures he wove are magical and timeless as they still entertain audiences today.

The narrator, Victor Warren, captures the magic and shares it with his listeners in a captivating and enchanting tone. His unique voices for each of the main characters are rich and reflect their personalities and ages. Warren’s impeccable and polished enunciation and appropriate pacing enhance the story. I have both read and listened to Peter Pan before, but Warren’s tone was velvety and smooth capturing and holding the interest of the listener.

A truly magical, and timeless production further enhanced by the voice work of Victor Warren. I look forward to hearing more from Warren. I recommend this book to children and adults of all ages!

The production and quality of this audiobook were perfect. I encountered no issues; it was clear and crisp.

ENGROSSING

I have heard the story of Peter Pan in many different ways, as we all have, but Victor brings such life into each character that you are totally emerged and engrossed into the tale of the boy who never grew up. from the opening scene to the final moment Victor's performance never waivers and it's never over the top.

I have never read the book and now I feel if I ever do it will be Victor's voice I hear in my head as I follow the words towards adventure. I give this 5 stars all the way around because it's a beloved classical story and a tremendous performance. I highly recommend it.

Excellent performance of a timeless classic

Peter Pan is the classic, beautiful, and universally beloved children’s story written by Sir James Matthew Barrie, spawning a number of sequels, movies, animated series, and other types of media for the entertainment of kids, young adults, and grown-ups everywhere.

The story follows Peter, the boy who lost his shadow and will never grow old, and his trusted friends Wendy, John and Michael. Alongside Tinker Bell, the lost boys embark on daring adventures filled with perils, pirates, fairies, mysteries, secrets, treasure, and a lot of magic.

This particular audiobook version of Peter Pan is brought to life by award-winning director, actor, writer, and producer Victor Warren. He reads this timeless story of friendship and mischief in a pleasant voice with just a touch of a British accent, which proved out to be perfect in order to elevate the level of immersion for the listener.

Victor Warren delivers a perfectly balanced performance, complete with credible voices for each of the main characters. This is not my first contact with an audiobook narrated by Mr. Warren, and I’m glad to let you know that this is one of his best so far. As always, the audio production is very good and of high quality.

If you want to discover these adventures for the first time or want to revisit them for the hundredth time, this audiobook version narrated by Victor Warren is top notch and I recommend it gladly!

Also, with the winter holidays just around the corner, I think this could make for a great gift for children and for those young at heart alike.

Excellent Narration To A Classic

4.5 out of 5 stars
It’s amazing how a certain line can take you right back to your childhood. The opening line of Peter Pan does that for me. “All children, except one, grow up.” I remember reading this as a child and not really understanding it. I also remember seeing the movie again as a 20-year-old and didn’t really understand it. Now, reading it as an adult, I think that there is SO much more to the story of Peter Pan than I originally thought.

I took the chance on this one because I love Victor Warren’s narration and I knew he would absolutely kill it with Peter Pan. I’m glad to know I was correct. He’s able to tell the story that I’ve heard a lot before in a way that really resonated with me.

Whether you’re a kid, a kid at heart or an adult wishing they didn’t grow up – checking out Peter Pan again is really an experience. There are lots of versions of this out there, but this one was a real stand out in my humble opinion. Warren was really able to bring Barrie’s words to life and really gave each character their own vibe/feel.

Overall, revisiting a classic like this is harder and harder as time goes on. There are always things in them that jump out to me that wouldn’t fly now – but remembering when they were written helps a lot. Peter Pan doesn’t escape that but definitely has that special place in my heart.
