Publisher's summary

Jane Austen's rich and charming novel about a virtuous young woman's search for love amidst the fickle world of country gentry in Regency England is one of her most memorable works.

Anne Elliot exists in a world where shallowness and hypocrisy present a challenge to her own centered values and tender emotions. Anne vies for the affections of the man she loves while at the same time her willpower is threatened as she battles the conventions of a proper parochial society.

Jane Austen's masterful writing combines finely balanced humor and stirring insight to make this the crowning achievement of her illustrious career.

Two-time Academy Award-winning actress Glenda Jackson retired from her acting career in 1992 to stand for election to the House of Commons and became a Member of British Parliament.

Persuasion Perfection

Glenda Jackson does full justice to the subtleties and absurdities of Austen’s last novel. The beauty of the written language is complemented by the spoken one.

Improvement is impossible; you will not find another version to compete.
