Publisher's summary

In the course of her everyday work, career-driven assistant district attorney Nina Frost prosecutes child molesters and works determinedly to ensure that a legal system with too many loopholes keeps these criminals behind bars. But when her own five-year-old son, Nathaniel, is traumatized by a sexual assault, Nina and her husband, Caleb, a quiet and methodical stone mason, are shattered, ripped apart by an enraging sense of helplessness in the face of a futile justice system that Nina knows all too well.

In a heartbeat, Nina's absolute truths and convictions are turned upside down, and she hurtles toward a plan to exact her own justice for her son - no matter the consequence, whatever the sacrifice.

Perfect Match was worth the credit

I think by listening to the Storyteller first is what made me give this book 4 out of 5 stars. It was quite as good as Storyteller but it was a good listen. Jodi Picoult is consistent in her writing and I feel it was worth the credit used to obtain this book.

Seemed like the author wasn’t sure where to go...

Initially I thought the storyline was pretty good. Interesting. Sad and it will make you disgusted but nevertheless an actual problem in our society. However I found the main character to be about the most annoying person in any book I’ve ever read. Very self-centered, very arrogant, thought she was smarter than everyone else. I’m not giving anything away here. As I was reading I felt like the choices she kept making weren’t actually for who she said they were four but really for herself and in the end she was actually hurting the person she love the most. Which again I thought made her very arrogant and self-centered. I’m trying to review the book just based on the actual story and not the fact that I hated the main character. The ending to prove to be so hypocritical by one of the other main characters and kind of repetitive again I don’t want to give anything away but it seemed a little bit like the author was just trying to come up with an ending to make us gasp. Unfortunately all it did was make me go “really” that was dumb. And why the cat?? Being a Catholic however, and no I’m not in denial about what has gone on the Catholic Church, I still find it offensive but hey it was her story to write.

Truly suspenseful

I almost went to the last chapter to find out what happens to Nina. Im glad I didn't, the meat of the story made the ending even more surprising

Not her best

The entire scenario is likely to unfold ‘in real life’ the way it did in the book. This is definitely not her best work-
Nathaniel, who in the book is 5 y/o; the character portrayed wasn’t age appropriate for the things he said or did- it was more appropriate for that of AT LEAST a 7 y/o, and that’s pushing it. With that being said, Picoult is a fantastic author and this was a good book, but it certainly wasn’t her best.
The narration was appropriate and done well. It’s worth a listen for Picoult junkies but I don’t know that it would bode well with Picoult newbies.

Didn't think I would like it. Found out I loved it.

I liked how I cared about what happened about these characters. I wanted things to work out. I was rooting for them. It helped that the voice acting was great. I also loved the different perspectives.

Maddenly Fantastic

I love all of Jodi Picoult's books. This one is at the top of my lfavorites list. I found myself wanting to listen even when I could not find the time. I just had to get to the end. I was not disappointed! I could not have imagined finally hearing the answers to all of my questions. Thanks Jodi.

From the middle to end,

From the middle to the end, it could have been better. A lot of things were left in the air at the end.
