Publisher's summary

On the coach to Portsmouth, Miss Pym faces her most difficult matchmaking challenge yet. The lovely Miss Penelope Wilkins, daughter of a rich merchant, would be the perfect match for the handsome Lord Augustus, a nobleman whose fortune is almost depleted. Would be, that is, if the two were at all compatible. Though strikingly beautiful, the too-practical Penelope seems to stand on quite the opposite cliff from the carefree Lord Augustus.

But when the undaunted Miss Pym enlists their help in untangling an intrigue, and Lord Augustus steals an astounding kiss from the shocked Penelope, Miss Pym is convinced that her matchmaking expertise will soon bridge any chasm between the reluctant lovers!

Cute & Entertaining Story!

This is only my 3rd M. C. Beaten book, all in "The Traveling Matchmaker" series.
I gave it 5 Stars, because I enjoyed listening to it, but I have to say I enjoyed the other 2 more.

I'm finding it harder to make wise choices for my listening pleasure lately, but feel pretty safe with M. C. Beaten books with Helen Lisanti narrating. Beaten is an entertaining read, with all the elements of a good book: adventure, romance, mystery & intrigue...with likeable characters and hateful villains.

I've just purchased #4 and look forward to hearing it.

If you haven't read/heard her books, I highly recommend them, and if possible starting with Book 1.

Best in the Series So Far

This is Hannah at her best. There is an innovation on the theme of the match being made by the end of the stage coach trip making the book more suspenseful. Even more likable well-drawn characters and more (realistic) adventure than the last books. This is the best book so far in an excellent series.

Penelope Goes To Portsmouth: The Traveling Matchmaker series, Book 3

Hannah Pym is back to her adventures again. This time she traveled to Portsmouth. She met her new companions on the stagecoach along the way, including a rich merchant’s beautiful daughter, Miss Penelope Wilkins and a very irresponsible, but devilishly handsome, Lord Augustus Railton. Of course Hannah can’t help herself in her matchmaking ways. The book had me laughing out loud quite a few times!

Entertaining listen

Was captivated by the story line. Enjoyed the new character of Ben. Should be interested to see where the next book goes.

not my favorite

i didn't like this one as much for some reason. the plot just seemed kind of far fetched. but i did like the ending, so that earned it another star. otherwise it would have been a 2 star book.

Another Enjoyable Tale

This one was a bit more exciting and enthralling than the others of this series. Not to give any spoilers but I want to hear how things go for Ms. Pimm. Her ongoing story is getting to be more interesting as the series goes on...

The suspense just keeps building!

Romance and mystery and some possible future revenge. Will our heroine ever get her own match?

Such an enjoyable book and such adventures! Still more odd facts shared about the era and, as with every book in the series, fabulous quotes at the beginning of each chapter
