Book 3

What did you love best about Peete and Repeat?

The characters have always been comfortable with each other, and now their roles as characters are equally so. The humor is great , and the mystery and daily camping activities blend well. Great read/listen.

Don't miss this!

amateur-sleuth, murder-investigation, retired, friendship, law-enforcement, cozy-mystery
Read on September 24, 2016

Group of retired friends take their trailers to a familiar campground and get involved in a murder investigation. All of the characters are totally believable, and so are their interactions. The weaving of the background of those who become the victims is not seamless, but it works anyway. It was good, and the length was perfect!
I have the audio version, and Michelle Babb is perfect in portraying each character and the narratives.

RVing is not for the Faint of Heart

Where does Peete and Repeat rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Is it Shakespeare? Is it Michael Connelly? No, it isn't... but, that's not a bad thing! This is well plotted, with characters that you become very fond of throughout the outstanding series. Mystery that itches to be solved. Settings and circumstances that call out to me, anyway.

What other book might you compare Peete and Repeat to and why?

The other books in the Frannie Shoemaker series.

What about Michelle Babb’s performance did you like?

Michelle appropriately keeps the story and characters moving. I can visualize the action taking place. Her voice work adds to and doesn't detract from a listener's enjoyment.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Fishing pole, check... camping stove, check... body bags, check...

Any additional comments?

I have many of this series on my Kindle as e books. The audio versions are all well done and my suggestion is, if you enjoy light mysteries, to check this series out.

Thanks for the opportunity to listen and review!

Peete and Repeat

Such a sad murder that needs to be solved in this one, but with some silly inserts the book keeps you entertained throughout.

Twin Troubles

Nortman really stepped up the mystery in this installment of the Frannie Shoemaker campground mysteries. In this story Nortman gives the readers more background about the twins who were involved in the latest who dunnit! The background really adds to the intrigue. I’m really enjoying how Frannie and cohorts go about trying to enjoy their camping excursion while Frannies love of sleuthing puts her in the center of the action. Michelle Babb as the narrator really enhances the story. Her voice is just spot on for the characters and is really a joy to listen to. I recommend both the book and the narration.

Well narrated cost mystery

The characters find murder in yet another campground. This series is not for nervous campers!! The plot progresses in a fairly predictable fashion, with the desire to shout at the detective to figure it out already quite strong at times. There is a definite attempt at plot twists and red herrings in this one —- but they come a bit late in the plot to make them plausible. The revisiting of the characters and the humorous foibles they exhibit along the way make this book. Narration was well suited to the story and main character. Good pace and lots of expression. I received this audiobook for free in exchange for a review.

Good Story

This is the 1st book I have listened to by this author. This Story is about a retired couple who gets together with friends to go RV camping, this time in Minnesota. They met a couple of identical twins in a campsite next to theirs and as things progress people get killed. Then you have the Mystery of who done it.

Another cozy mystery by Karen Musser Nortman

This series is based in various campgrounds throughout the US. These cozy mysteries are an easy listen, thanks to Michelle Babb's excellent narration. I have listened to all the Frannie Shoemaker Campground mysteries and enjoyed all of them. You can read the synopsis in the description so I will not repeat that information. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator. I received this book in exchange for my honest review!

humor and drama

I love Frannie's diligence and perseverance to following any and all leads. Her sidekick spouse Larry gets dragged along on her adventures. I enjoyed being led on the path to solving the mysteries and easily got caught ip in the story. Looking forward to more. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job with voices and expressions.

Double trouble problems

I truly loved this book it had me sitting on the edge of my seat with the twists and turns. I loved the characters and storyline. The drama and the nosey characters had me going. Greed will get you every time. I received this book at my request and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review here of my own volition.

A superior mystery

I am loving this series, An excellent mystery with fun, well described and likeable lead characters. On one hand the murderer was obvious on the other how it was done is cleverly shown and there are several other side stories that make you doubt your conclusion. An interesting little twist at the end. The narration really brings the characters to life and adds to the enjoyment of the story. I was given a complimentary copy of the book

Yes it s a book you could listen to again

This is the first book by this author I have listened to but I really like the narrator so thought I would give it ago. Glad I did because I really enjoyed it. You sort of knew who the killer is right from start but the author has you questioning yourself so you aren't positive until the big reveal. No plot spoilers here I an not telling you who I thought it was. I liked the group of friends and there was enough information to make them well rounded characters, without giving you there life history at the expense of the mystery and as the series develops and you learn more about them I am sure they are going to become like old friends. I found that I liked the unusual idea of different mysteries at different campgrounds, so will definitely be checking out the other books in the series. Frannie and her husband are camping in Minnesota with a group of friend when two of the other camp site guests are killed. Frannie had noticed them on the site and around town, who could miss two grown twins that still dressed alike. Frannie having stumbled over the bodies can't help but get involved when knowing there caravan is empty, she sees lights. What could the burglar be looking for? Is it connected to the photos the ladies were taking all over town and what happened to there camera? Did they see something someone does what them to see like the run down caravan on the edge of the property? Frannie hurts herself In a canoeing accident giving her plenty of time to sit in a deck chair and keep an eye on the suspects. Can she work out why the twins had to die before there stay is over? As I said I really like the narrator. Normally when a narrator I likes changes series it takes a while to get my head around the new characters, as I am still picturing the old characters but this is not the case with Michelle Babb. I had no problems with the new cast members and think she did another excellent job. I was given this free review copy audibook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Delightful Listen!

Karen Musser Nortman has created a great series with the Frannie Shoemaker character, and Peete and Repeat does not disappoint. This book is both a standalone listen and part of a series. Being familiar with southern Minnesota, I could envision much of the campground. This book brings back many happy memories of camping as a child. This book includes a murder mystery that has many suspects and red herrings. I love it when the killer or motive is not obvious. Michelle Babb was wonderful bringing the characters to life with her voice. I could hear the various characters, and found her to add to my enjoyment.

A great Cozy Mystery

I really liked this more then I did The Blue Coyote. We don't have to wait long before the bodies are found and the mystery begins. I guessed who did it quite quickly but I still liked it. I found it to be funny at times. This is a type of story that would be good made into a film, it has the background the different characters and the amateur detectives.
Michelle Babb does a great job in bring the characters to life.

Would recommend to all!
No language/sexual content, with some mild violence.

"She watches a lot of CSI."

Any additional comments?

Another enjoyable outing with the keen campers, Frannie and Larry Shoemaker and friends.
Enjoying their latest happy camping, replete with eating, walking, cycling (and pies), it isn't long before they discover a body or two and begin sleuthing.
Good characters and dialogue, gentle, if predictable, story, humour and an overall interesting cozy mystery
The excellent Michelle Babb again helps bring the protagonists to life.
Just right for a light-hearted listen.
