Big as a mountain and stronger than a grizzly bear, Paul Bunyan was the greatest lumberjack ever to swagger through the North American forests. All the larger-than-life characters in Paul's supporting cast are here, including Babe the Blue Ox, eating her ton of grain a day, and Hotbiscuit Sally, with her acre-and-a-half griddle. The outrageous adventures of this quintessential American hero represent the very best in the proud tradition of American storytelling. Actor and comedian Jonathan Winters narrates the tale, accompanied by original music performed by Leo Kottke with Duck Baker. Ages four and up. Part of the award-winning Rabbit Ears series, American Heroes and Legends.

It was quick, entertaining and thoroughly pg rated entertainment. Also sweetly nostagic as it was narrated by the late great Jonathan Winters.

At a young age, I really loved Paul Bunyan, Pecos Bill and John Henry. Jonathan Winters was my parents' favorite comedian. I liked him too. To hear Winters voice again, almost brought tears to my eyes, so this book was great for me. I also loved Captain Kangaroo, Mr. Green Jeans, Tom Terrific, the bunny that never talked and the moose. Things have changed so much, that I will seriously have to say, I don't think my grandkids would like this. I think they would be bored. I also think it is gender specific. Little boys who have an illustrated book to follow along with this, might enjoy it. This would be most enjoyed by old men, who wanted to remember their childhood or big fans of Jonathan Winters, who does a fantastic job. If you are too young to know Winters, he was the Robin Williams of our time, if your too young for Robin Williams, well I can't help you there.
