“[A] dreamy and lyrical paean to all things French … a fascinating portrait of women of color who defy family and tradition to follow love …” ( Publishers Weekly)

Lovely piece with mystery and mature heroine

I was a bit lost at first with the 2 story lines (2 different women), but they merged beautifully in a way I couldn't predict. It's nice to read a story that isn't centered around a 18 or 20 something barely a woman. This story has the complexity of feeling and life you'd expect from someone over 40. Brava!

Good But Slow

The story is one you almost have to drag out of the book. I almost stop listening several times but pushed forward. It was a story about a woman passing herself off as white. The last half of the book was interesting.
