Publisher's Summary

Easwaran's classic manual is a unique source of practical spiritual support for new and experienced meditators and gives all the instruction needed to establish a vibrant meditation practice and keep it going. In passage meditation you focus attention on passages, or texts, drawn from all the world's sacred traditions. You choose the passages that appeal to you, so this universal method stays fresh and inspiring, prompting you to live out your highest ideals.

Easwaran taught passage meditation to thousands of people for over 40 years, including a course at the University of California, Berkeley. Meditation is supported by the mantram and six other spiritual tools to help us stay calm, kind, and focused throughout the day. This book, which includes Easwaran’s answers to more than 100 questions posed by his students, shows how, with regular practice, we gain wisdom and vitality and find a life that fulfills.

Life Changing!

This book give guidance to develop a meditation practice that for me feels like home. I have tried many different techniques and this approach is the first one that really slows my mind down. It has become a part of my life that is non-negotiable where as before I felt I "had" to meditate I now feel that I meditate at a given time each day and that is what I do and it serves me and others as I approach each day now with beautiful words that I am slowly becoming in my life off the cushion. I hope that you take up this practice and that it brings much joy and peace to your life as well! Om mani padme hum

Very Practical Very Clear

Don't let the "Sample Audio" of this book in Audible lead you into thinking that this is a monotonous or boring book. It's quite the contrary. Full of detailed instructions on the passage meditation, this book can be the best thing have received in life.

not a book for beginners

I think they overcomplicated the art of becoming free. this he does even though refers to a great soul who did simplify everything. he starts out by saying that you can't meditate while walking, when walking meditation is a very easy way to start with getting to know how to be free.

The start of the beginning

A clearly narrated and elegant companion guide to meditation. Eknath never fails to simplify the often complicated.

No matter where you are in your spiritual / meditation journey this book is packed throughout with gems of wisdom - I will be listening to it again and again - Eknaths words and Paul Bazely’s wonderful narration are well worth meditating upon

Simple and wonderful

Finally a meditation that makes sense to me. The author gives clear instructions and gives good reasons why the different steps are necessary. I also liked the reader's tone.
