In January of 1965, 24-year-old US Army sergeant Charles Robert Jenkins abandoned his post in South Korea, walked across the DMZ, and surrendered to communist North Korean soldiers standing sentry along the world's most heavily militarized border. He believed his action would get him back to the States and a short jail sentence. Instead he found himself in another sort of prison, where for 40 years he suffered under one of the most brutal and repressive regimes the world has known. I love this man!!!
He is wise and wonderful. Something caught my attention when I was browsing the store and I bought this. Later I forgot why I bought it and listening to the introduction, I almost decided not to listen… it’s about WWll which I recently listened to a couple other books taking place around that time… I wasn’t sure I wanted to listen to another one.
Am I glad I did! This is the best book every, with very wise words from an extraordinary man!!! The introduction is important because it tells us who he is.
I highly recommend this book to everyone and anyone!!! Ms Lenny Lunden
