Publisher's summary

In the midst of folding laundry, coordinating carpool schedules, and breaking up fights, many parents get lost. Feeling pressure to do everything "right" and raise up "good" children, it's easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose as parents in the quest for practical tips and guaranteed formulas.

In this life-giving book, Paul Tripp offers parents much more than a to-do list. Instead, he presents us with a big-picture view of God's plan for us as parents. Outlining 14 foundational principles centered on the gospel, he shows that we need more than the latest parenting strategy or list of techniques. Rather, we need the rescuing grace of God - grace that has the power to shape how we view everything we do as parents.

Freed from the burden of trying to manufacture life-change in our children's hearts, we can embrace a grand perspective of parenting overflowing with vision, purpose, and joy.

Best. Parenting. Book. Ever.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and realize that Sftwr 18 years of parenting, I know a lot less than I should. I highly recommend the book as well as Age of Opportunity also by Paul Tripp. The quality of the recording could have been enhanced, that is the only reason I gave four stars on performance...live that the author lent his own voice to the audio version.

Best parenting book!!

Stewardship Parenting vs Ownership parenting mentality.... giving our kids the grace and hope we’ve been given! It has brought hope (where I felt broken and helpless) to Parent well! Must read!

Excellent Excellent Excellent!!!!!!

This is such a wonderful book. There were times I thought, where are the tips for application. Give it time though, it all comes together. This is a God fearing man that approaches parenting from a perspective I never thought of. He says we are ambassadors for God. Only in our children’s lives to fulfill the mission of raising Christlike children. He emphasizes giving grace to our kids just like our Heavenly Father gives us grace daily. I could go on and on really. I was so blessed by this book. One last thing, not only did this book help me understand a better approach to parenting, it helped me analyze myself and my relationship with the Lord. Truly a blessing. Thank you P. D. Tripp.

The Gospel and parenting laid out beautifully!

This is definitely not a book of parenting how to's. Rather, it's a book laying out the gospel of Jesus Christ and how it guides us in parenting our children the way God has always meant for us to. Sooo good!

Awesome book!

Found this book while I was searching for another one that was recommended to me. It captured my attention from beginning to end. There were moments when I laughed, had feelings of regret or felt like crying: This book made me want to change. This was a great find. I believe that this book should be read by anyone who wants the best for their children.

Profound

The most important parenting book I've read to date. Not only does Trip discuss the perspective of Ambassador Grace parenting, he reminds me of my approach to all of my realationships and life.

Repetition is Annoying but Effective in Teaching

The only thing that stops me from giving this book 5 stars, and which had me hunting for a proper place to give a 2 or 3 star for writing style, is the insistence on repeating bullet points with the full preface for each point. Example: The author repeats himself for emotional effect. The author repeats himself to explore other situations where his point is valid. The author repeats himself for a final time to show you he is just like you.

It was annoying. And the narrator who made the recording used a tone of voice that made the repetition sound like lecturing. It made me feel irritated at time... but the points stuck with me. I learned a lot. Mr. Tripp knows his stuff.

One final warning: my wife tells me that there is a tape hiss sound in the background of the recording. I can’t hear it because of my tinnitus and hearing trouble but be warned that it may cause you some annoyance.
