Publisher's summary

An electrifying new thriller series for listeners who love Vince Flynn and Brad Thor! Former marine officer Matthew Betley introduces fearless soldier Logan West in this action-packed, globe-trotting, edge-of-your-seat debut.

Former Marine Force Reconnaissance officer Logan West emerges from a blackout after drinking away the worries of his ruined marriage and PTSD, an all too familiar scene for the recovering alcoholic. But he wakes to more than a killer hangover: A professional mercenary has been sent to capture him. After an embattled showdown, Logan impulsively answers the dead man's ringing phone, triggering a hasty rescue of Logan's estranged wife and a global race against the clock to track down an unknown organization searching for an Iraqi flag central to a planned attack in the Middle East - one that will draw the US into a major conflict with Iran.

Logan and John Quick, Logan's former platoon sergeant who has also been targeted by these shadowy mercenaries, are contracted as "consultants" to assist the FBI as part of a special task force led by Logan's close friend. From the plains of the Midwest to the Alamo and mansions in Northern Mexico to the war-torn Al Anbar province, the battles build in scale and scope and pit an international team against mercenaries and former Special Forces operators employed by the world's largest private security contractor, whose owner has a shadowy personal vendetta of his own.

Meanwhile Logan is battling his own demons, unable to shake the trauma of the ambush that his Force Recon unit suffered at an insurgent torture compound in Fallujah in 2004. Mixing thrilling, you-are-there fight scenes with high-stakes tactical maneuvers and complex, fully realized characters, Overwatch is up to the minute and impossible to pause.

I love it! Once I got beyond opening story hole...

Great pace/characters. Why send 4guys for wife & only 1 for main character? Major hole

A very good read

This was a very good thriller book written, and performed very well. I would recommend it to anyone that likes the special forces and clandestine type books.

A fun plot to follow

Betley created a good plot and filled it with interesting characters. I really like Lee Childs and Vince Flynn and I am always looking for another author who can write on par with them. Yes, that is a personal opinion and others may not be fans of Childs and Flynn, but that is my bias. That being said, the plot was ok. Simple yet intersting, so I'm not ready to hold Betley up with the others just yet. But I did find the chracters to be engaging and they have a measure of depth to them. Overall, it is a fast paced story which held my attention. There are a few holes which I thought could have been handled better, but they are minor, in my opinion, and they don't sink the overall production. I look forward to others in the series.

Edge of the Seat Listening!!!

I loved this!!! It was so good. I really enjoyed all the action. It was a little graphic, but I think it was in context. I had a bit of an issue with the narration at first, but once I got used to the cadence of Mr. Newbern's voice, it was all good. I love a good conspiracy & action. This book at both!! I was biting my nails. I highly recommend this title!!!

Great story but Mediocre performance from the reader, definitely still loved the book though and plan to buy the next one.

Action packed book starts off right from the beginning with a bang. Had me hooked immediately so I’ll definitely be buying the next books in the series. I got used to the reader but I didn’t like his voice from the start he had kind of a high-pitched voice for the main character which I didn’t like. Still highly recommend this book overall it was a fantastic story.

Good story line horrible narrator

Not sure what Betley was thinking selecting this speaker. His voice belong on a nature documentary not a military/special ops series. It was so boring I had to give up on this series. Too bad as I think Betley has real talent as a writer.

Good story, not such a good reader.

The story was very good, but George Newberg was not the best choice for the reader of a thriller. He would probably be good for a comedy or less action oriented book.

What a difference a few new twist make!

First off there will be another book, friends, earned trust, being like minded, relationship problems, and guest ions of honor, if any of these subjects interest you. You'll find it all in this book.
Is the best book I have listened to....No, but it was an enjoyable listen. It certainly beats a lot of the %#^* that is currently being passed a a literary best seller.
