Reunited with her people, Shanti knows that she must make a move in order to finally put her duty to rest. But as always, Xandre is one step ahead of her.

For one brief moment, when she lets down her guard, Shanti falls into enemy hands. But if Xandre thought she would be a docile prisoner, he was sadly mistaken.

With Shanti running interference, it is up to the boys she has trained and the army Cayan leads to fight their way to her side.

The fate of the land will finally be decided. Which side will be overtaken?

Best Series

I am very choosy with the books I read & even care to review as I do read a lot. However, this series is one of my all time favorites & I am hoping KF Breene will expand on this series. The audio is fantastic! Caitlin Davies does an amazing job with all the voices and humor! It's one series I will and do listen to over and over again as well as read because it is so beautifully written with talent and humor and such love and devotion. All the books were beautifully done! Thank you for an amazing series. I truly hope there will be more to come.

Awesome conclusion!!!!

Any additional comments?

The sixth book in the Warrior Chronicles saga is one of the best conclusions to a series that I've had the pleasure to listen to in a long while. There aren't any dull moments in this book. Action, kidnapping, loss, deception, battle, trust, and a common cause along with Breene's sense of humour and writing style kept me wanting more and saddened when it ended. Overtaken is a great ending to a unique adventure series!

So sad, I didn't enjoy the ending at all

This book gets 3 stars only because books 1-5 were fantastic. The adventure, the characters, the world, the magic, and the peoples...the lead-up to the big battle was epic.

The final battle?

Meh.

Seriously, meh.

In this book, Shanti is captured fairly early on. She has this realization that she could be happy. She has Cayan, the honor guard, her brother, and all their people, even Sanders grew on her (I love Sanders, btw). And she realizes that they are finally ready to maybe, possibly WIN against Xandre and his armies.

Then, BAM, she is captured. After that we have some chats with Xandre's closest security officers and of course, Xandre himself. Those chats are sort of illuminating, but a bit dull.

And otherwise we follow the honor guard as they follow Shanti to Xandre's stronghold. While all that is important, it was mostly really boring. A bunch of whiny teens whimpering and bantering for most of the book, doing stupid things and just getting away with it all.

All while there is a quick scene here or there with Shanti or Cayan (alone and separate of course), but that was really it. No epic fighting beside one another. No combining of gifts for a big bang. Like, why give Cayan his 'endless abyss of power' if he never uses it?

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, so I won't get into deets, but... They entire book felt disjointed. It was no longer about Shanti and Cayan, the Chosen. It was about teenagers. There is, of course, the end battle, but it felt like ALL that prep from books 1-5 was for naught. Just a disjointed fight scene that often didn't make a lot of sense in a listening format. (as in, because the narrative is jumping from one character to another, and action is coming fast all while there are big reveals and oddball conversations happening, listening to the narrator read it all got a bit confusing.)

And the way they approach Xandre's fight was just, again, kinda quick and confusing. I had to go back bacause I honestly didn't realize Shanti had already fought the guy at one point. Darn pronouns had me thinking it was someone else.

By the end of the book, some of that was still happening. I actually googled one of the characters that I was sure had died, but whom the author hardly bothered to explain about. It was just weird.

Finally, Leilius had way too much dialogue in this book, because the narrator's voice for him was AwFuL. Ick. Like a little kid with the screechiest, whiniest voice imaginable, and at the highest possible pitch. Fingernails on a chalkboard would be soothing compared to that voice. He is supposed to be a spy, for pete's sake. Maybe early on, the screechy baby voice might have suited his character a little, but by the time he is battle-tested and officially a spy for Shanti's honor guard? No. Just no.

Alas, the series was still great. I recommend reading it to a mature young adult. The sexy scenes are quick and undetailed mostly, the relationship between Cayan and Shanti is sweet and believable in how the grow together, The violence is... Very much there throughout but generally not terribly gory. Overall the series was phenomenal. I just was sadly disappointed by this ending, but not devastated. It still had the necessary HEA and tied up most loose ends.

Epic battles, tragic loses, heartache and love!!!

This final installment of the Warrior Chronicles brings everything to a closure with epic battles, tragic loses, heartache and love. All the players are in motion, and all the pieces are finally fit together in a way that no one could have predicted. I am sad to see the series end but I love how thrilling the story was!!!

Fascinating series

I have enjoyed all six books in this series. Wonderful characters, great detail and held my interest through them all. Narration by Caitlin Davies was excellent. She added to the richness of the story. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a great story.

Awesome Series!!

The Warrior Chronicles is by far one of my favorite series. The character development is excellent, the comic relief is hilarious, and the overall sense of determination is it inspiring. The ending was abrupt and seemed anti-climatic to the monumental struggle that everyone just went through. But I would highly recommend this series to any and everyone who enjoys the Triumph of human spirit over insurmountable odds.

A wonderful series!

This series I came across through a sale on the 1st book. I was so taken by the first of the series, I quickly ordered the rest. I personally enjoy Science Fiction, paranormal, action, adventure, mystery, and love romance included with any of the above. Actually, romance is normally required. This book included all of the above. It was fascinating!! I will look for any more books by this author! You can’t go wrong with this series.

Another winner 🏆

I am fairly new to Audible books and usually struggle to find a good story with a narrator that I want to listen to. This is a good story and the narrator makes the characters come alive and leap from the page. Thoroughly enjoyed.

I ❤️ Shanti

This series had all the feels and this was a perfect ending to it. I love the romantic aspect of it, but I love that Shanti still is the biggest bada$$ of the land even more. No damsel in distress here! Cayan is hot and all, but Sanders and The Bastard are THE BEST!!! 😂 It's been quite a few entertaining hours of listening to this, and it definitely won't be the last time.

Excellent

A wonderful conclusion to this epic tale.
Some characters don't make it, and there's a few surprising twists, but a truly wonderful read... listen. A highly skilled narrator and author, this book is naturally enthralling. Thank you both for this amazing experience.

Great narration with greater characters

First foray into audible books and have enjoyed the whole series.
A few twists and turns in the story kept me glued but it was the characters well voiced by an excellent narrator that sold me the series.
Plenty of laugh out loud moments as well.

Mostly enjoyable

I enjoyed these books bearing in mind that they are far fetched but I dislike giving star ratings as I feel it is unfair to the author. So many authors with vastly different styles writing for vastly different audiences of both age and gender and narrators that can make or break a story. I nearly didn’t review these books for many reasons but also felt this too would be unfair. I appreciated this series even though I felt it was biased towards women and perhaps younger women. That’s not to say many others wouldn’t also enjoy these books. The storyline/plot is straightforward and although there is violence it is also romantic with much sexual overtones. These are not books for the intellectually minded but even so they have a simple charm with a fairly fast action pace. The action and plot are not complex and it should be remembered that this is a fantasy novel unlike novels from a realistic viewpoint. This review is not to put these books down in any way. I read a vast array of books but for now am enjoying the escapism of listening. Whilst I doubt I would have read these novels listening has enabled me to enjoy books I might not have read otherwise. To that end I can say this series gave me many hours of simple pleasure.
I noted the criticisms of the narrator and whilst it took me a little while to get used to her voice I found her narration to be fine and would not fault her. Given all the above I would recommend anyone trying this series and giving it a go, I doubt you will be disappointed. Suspend your reality and live in fantasy for a while.

last book was a let down.

anti climactic... the story built up to the very quick and disappointing end...
I think the narration improved a little, except that some of the voices got mixed up and Caitlin still doesn't pronounce the T's in words properly.

it just felt like the author qas just rushing through the end credits & ticking boxes...
