Publisher's summary

We can all feel tired from time to time, and for most of us, a little more rest will get us back on track quickly enough. However, for some, fatigue can be persistent even after a few good nights' sleep. Some, for instance, will find themselves suffering from a slump of energy in the mid-afternoon, and feel the need for some sugar or caffeine to pick them up at this time. Others can find their energy levels are perpetually flat, no matter what they do, causing them to feel as though they're wading through treacle all day long.

Well help is at hand. Through his extensive research and experience with literally thousands of patients over the last 15 years, Dr John Briffa reveals the common causes of fatigue how to combat it and restore energy using natural, self-help strategies.

In this audio Dr Briffa covers:

  • The most common causes of undiagnosed fatigue, including anaemia, iron deficiency, food sensitivity, low thyroid function, and weakened adrenal gland function
  • The symptoms that can point to specific underlying causes of fatigue
  • Which tests can be most useful for identifying the root cause of the problem
  • How common, treatable, causes of fatigue can easily be missed by conventional medical tests
  • The simple, self-help strategies that can boost energy and banish fatigue by getting to the root of the problem

Dr Briffa is a lecturer, broadcaster and an award-winning health writer. Insights into fatigue from a doctor

This was useful and interesting. Much more medical and matter-of-fect than I was expecting - I thought it would be self-help style. But that also meant there was less BS.

It was rather short though - I would have liked more practical info e.g. on eating to sustain a balanced blood sugar. But it moved very quickly through the various diagnoses.
