Publisher's Summary

John and Brooke are on their own, hitchhiking from town to town as they hunt the last of the Withered through the Midwest - but the Withered are hunting them back, and the FBI is close behind.

With each new town, each new truck stop, each new highway, they get closer to a vicious killer who defies every principle of profiling and prediction John knows how to use, and meanwhile Brooke's fractured psyche teeters on the edge of oblivion, overwhelmed by the hundreds of thousands of dead personalities sharing her mind.

She flips in and out of lucidity, manifesting new names and thoughts and memories every day, until at last the one personality pops up that John never expected and has no idea how to deal with: the last of Nobody's victims, trapped forever in the body of his last remaining friend.

Bringing the creepy back!

This one started out slow, in fact I put it down for a few days, but I knew Dan Wells and knew he would never disappoint me so I picked it up again and I'm glad I did!

The issue of relationships between John and his supporting cast from the previous book have all been cleared up and he has allowed himself to care about those he hurts once again, making his internal struggles more risky and heartbreaking and the outcome more suspenseful.

This book is awesome, gruesome, and some of Dan's best writing yet!

dan wells

I used to wanna write but after reading the john cleaver series im not sure theres a point in trying. Dan wells has managed to write my favorite series to date and i find it difficult to believe someone could write something better. The narrarorator also plays a very important role and fits john perfectly.

Two broken teens trying to save the world

Would you listen to Over Your Dead Body again? Why?

Yes, I loved this book, it is the perfect followup to the events in the previous books. It's dark, it's well-paced, it gives us a deeper understanding of both John and (Brooke). I felt so many emotions in this book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

John and (Brooke) still the show, but (Brooke) is totally my favorite character in the series as of now, I want to know so much more about her, all of the different hers.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cried, laughed at the cleaver joke and a few other things, and I just felt a wave of emotions as the story unfolded, this is a more mature, battle-worn John Cleaver, he's a killer with a heart and morals, he cares, even if it's a fractured way of caring. His development over the course of this series is masterful in my opinion.

Any additional comments?

The main withered in this book was okay, more of a side story that ties the whole thing together, still interesting but I'm hoping to get a more in-you-face-and-tearing-out-your-heart-because-it-makes-me-happy kind of villian in the next installment, I want john to face some real evil that rivals anything he can come up with, also, more (Brooke), a lot more (Brooke).

Brooke

I'm just tired of the character Brooke. Very annoying and takes a way from what John is trying to do. She is the chink in his armor.

a bit slower than the previous John cleaver books

Overall I have really enjoyed the series so far. But this book was kind of slow compared to the previous books, with a lot of focus on Brooke's and John's psychology and travels and less focus on the withered. I would have like more action and suspense like in the previous ones. The reader's performance was very good.

Dan does it again!

This book raises the stakes perfectly for John. I liked how it explores Nobody /Brooke more and how she is indespensible to his mission. John hits his darkest moment, and the mystery keeps you tuned in all the way through.

A worthy continuation of John Cleaver

Another entertaining adventure. If you liked the previous Cleaver books check this one out. The narrator does a great job voicing John. I'm looking forward to seeing where the series goes.

A book you will not want to turn off until you find out what happens next!

I have kept up with this series and enjoy following John on his quest. It was an unexpected emotional edge that I felt too. I can not wait to start the next book!

Sooo Good!

What did you love best about Over Your Dead Body?

"Over Your Dead Body" brings John Cleaver and his pre-Marcy high school obsession Brooke closer than ever, developing these two broken characters and their relationship in surprising ways during their adventures to hunt down the Withered. The ending, of course, is a little heart wrenching. This is a horror book, after all. But it’s another fantastic addition to the "I Am Not A Serial Killer" universe.

Kirby Heyborne has also been a perfect Narrator for this series, and his performance here does not disappoint!

Felt a lot like the first books in the series.

The feel of this book was much closer to 1-3 than book 4 was. I love this series and look forward to the next one.
