Publisher's summary

Hope brought them together, but it's now fear that drives them... and threatens to tear them apart.

Zoe and her companions succeeded in rescuing Dani from the Colony. But not without sacrifice. Beaten and broken, they head west, determined to leave behind the torment and horrors they experienced in Colorado.

As Dani and Zoe make the perilous trek home to Bodega Bay, they learn that danger can take many forms--other survivors, their friends, even themselves--and that things are rarely what they seem. Zoe is desperate to become the woman she sees in others' memories, while Dani struggles to conceal damaging secrets, risking losing herself--her humanity--completely. Together, they must rediscover the true meaning of friendship, love, and trust, and learn just how hard they're willing to fight for what remains of their shattered world.

As relationships are put to the test, second chances are given, and new life emerges, death lurks in the most unlikely of places. To survive, Dani and Zoe must accept that sometimes hope alone isn't enough.

Going, going back back to Cali Cali

I have been with the characters of this series for 2 action and drama filled books. I think what this bbook lacked in action made up for in secrets, reveals and character development. In my personal opinion this is what the series needed. So far through the first 2 books it has been a very eventful ride. One thing I like about this series is how I think I know what is going to happen next but really I don't. Another thing I like is how the author really uses ideas and things from the other books in the series and ties them into this book. I will not go into more detail as to not spoil things for anyone. I do admit that the story did drag along fromtime to time but the payoff is definitely worth the climb. I compare it to a long ascend to a rollercoaster ride. There were 4 or 5 huge reveals at the end of the story that I thought... "Yup that has to be it" but it wasn't. If you have followed our band of survivors this far this book will definitely give you more to think about and follow. Can't wait until book 4 to find out how everything wraps up. The narration was great again. Everything that was true for the first 2 books was true for this performance. One thing I did notice is as the book went along there were parts that the recording was choppy but I will chalk that up to an again iPod and perhaps a bad internet connection. The series does keep better and better so bring on book 4

some parts predictable, but still good.

my biggest complaint is with some of the voices. she made D sound like a major dingbat & at times I couldn't tell the difference between the men & the animals! sometimes it is ok to have multiple narrators!

This book is WAY too long. Regurgitated previous books for over half of the book, but improved towards the end.

Why did we have to relive the last two books through a memory wipe? Yes. I get it. Having your memory erased must be very hard to deal with, but why does the reader have to go through everything all over again? Funny enough, the book actually became interesting after the memory wipe ended.

Soooo good!

Entire series misses nothing - fear, love, hate, romance, heartbreak, suspense, action etc. It picks up quick, no dragging. A great thing (in my opinion) it doesn't go to extreme use of profanity. Great authors and the narration is on point.

Great from start to finish!!!

Read this story in 2 days. There are so many twists and turns throughout that I couldn't put it down. Starting the 4th and final book right now. I can't wait to find out what happens to Jake, Jason, Dani, Chloe, and also to find out where the "twins" fit in at!!!!

Out of the ashes

This series is good but sometimes is a bit hard to follow. Has several story lines from beginning that need to keep in mind and then new ones pop up! Recommend it but be aware u have to follow along closely!
