Publisher's Summary

What happens when a 21st century woman on a mission to change the past meets a thoroughly 1940s man trying to stay alive in the hellish skies over war-torn Europe?

Melanie 'Mel' Morton is an adventure reporter, who lost her grandfather in World War II. Enter Jack Hamilton, sexy octogenarian, genius/scientist, and former WWII bomber pilot. What he tells Mel sends her on the craziest adventure yet - straight into the past. All Mel has to do is outmaneuver the entire German army and not fall in love with Jack.

An exciting adventure

Where does Out of Time rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is the best one I have heard.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to but couldn't listen to all at one time

Any additional comments?

It is an exciting adventure of a very intelligent young women who went back in time to complete a task. It was also interesting because it went back to WWII in Europe behind enemy lines.

Believable Time Travel

What did you love best about Out of Time?

How effortlessly Pauline Baird Jones writes and gets the reader into the story.

Any additional comments?

I couldn't stop listening to this audio book! It was a great escape for a long week-end spent at the in-laws. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys time-travel books and especially if you enjoy the WWII era.

Narration is distractingly horrific

I give up. One of the worst narration efforts ever. I can’t get into the story, it’s that bad. On top of that, there is background noise that doesn’t help. As this is an award-winning story, perhaps I’ll try reading it...but only after I get this “performance” out of my head.

Could only last about 45 minutes...

I would have returned this book if I hadn't waited too long before listening... The narrators voice just got on my nerves and didn't seem to match the characters AT ALL. This rarely happens to me, I find that I can work with most narrators. This is only the 2nd book I've wanted to return. I will certainly be sampling all of my purchases from now on so that I won't feel cheated again...

Awful audio / A regrettable buy

Don't buy this book before listening to a sample. There is a loud hiss in the background the entire book. The narrator starts out reading too fast, and there are bad places, breaths, and inconsistencies throughout the book. It's probably a very good story, but I couldn't tell because of the narration.

Great story!

Great story with characters I wish I could meet. And I loved the time travel angle. I would love to see this as a movie!

An Intriguing story

Would you listen to Out of Time again? Why?

Yes, It was a good story with quite a few twists and turns

What other book might you compare Out of Time to, and why?

There are quite a lot of books with the time slip theme, but this book offers a new idea to me in that the characters are purposely going back in time to correct things they inadvertently did during their first visit to the past.

Have you listened to any of Becky Boyd’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No this is my first book read by her

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes. I felt great sympathy for Melanie and Jack and found myself urging them on in their endeavours

Any additional comments?

An interesting read, especially for people who have memories of the second world war, however remote they may be. My memories aare those of a very small child but I could associate with the feelings of the characters.
