Publisher's Summary

A string of copycat crimes leads a reporter down a terrifying path in a heart-stopping thriller by New York Times best-selling author T. R. Ragan.

Crime reporter Sawyer Brooks still grieves for the family she and her two sisters never had. Raised in a house of horrors, they continue to fight through the trauma - releasing their rage by seeking justice for those who are just as vulnerable as they were.

When a little girl’s bones are unearthed in Sacramento’s Land Park and 12-year-old Riley Addison disappears, solving these cases becomes an obsession for Sawyer - one that puts her job at risk. Yet she can’t turn back, and the deeper Sawyer’s investigation goes, the darker it gets. A psychopath is on the loose and has been trolling Sacramento for years - hiding in plain sight behind a motherly façade.

The more Sawyer persists, the closer she gets to a disturbing place reminiscent of her own terrorized childhood. With time running out, Sawyer will risk anything to save Riley from the dark. But the killer will do anything to keep her there.

T R Ragan has found a formula...

and doesn’t deviate. This is a very good book with a super story line. My only complaint is that it sounds too familiar. This author has written a few series, all good but they also sound the same. A group of wronged individuals get together to right the injustices either done to them or similar being done to others. All involved use nicknames to represent their emotional connection to the crimes being committed.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book just wish Ragan would change her format so each series would not have such a deja vu effect.
Jennica Damon does a great job narrating.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This book is sooo good!

An investigative reporter, with history of childhood abuse, is determined to break a case of missing young girls. Can she catch the killer before it’s too late for the latest victim? Meanwhile, her sister is part of a vigilante group and her life is unraveling. The storyline is captivating and I look forward to the next book to find out if the ‘Black Wig’ ladies are caught.
Narrator does a wonderful job with each character.

Good story, abundance of grammatical errors

The performance is good. The story is pretty good. The book is ruined for me by the continuous misuse of the word "fixated". "Her gaze fixated on..." Is used multiple times in both the first and second novels. The characters never see or glance at something, their eyes or their gaze "fixate" on whatever is in view. Ruined the books for me. I won't waste any more money on T.R. Ragan's subpar writing.

Amazing story

The story is captivating, well written and narrated. Is deep, and emotional, A puzzle with lots of twists and turns. Sawyer, Aria and Harper are clever and smart. It is an example of courage, fearless, and healing. I definitely recommend it.

A wonderful series

The narrator does a wonderful job of character voices. She can truly make the characters come to life! She does a wonderful job of distinguishing between male and female characters. This may sound easy, but it is not. There is a big difference between a narrator, and a reader. She is definitely a wonderful narrator. this is a wonderful series. If you have not read the first book in the series, you need to do so. This is definitely a serious do you need to start from the beginning. They are not standalone books. Everything that happens to the characters, in the first book, plays a part in this book. sawyer, and her sisters, are all dealing with personal issues because of how they grew up. One of the sisters, yes part of a group of five women who are taking care of things, vigilante style. This is just the tip of the iceberg! I guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy, not only this book, but the first one as well!

A new favourite author.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this author. I’m very fussy with my book choices and dump books very quickly if they don’t resonate with me. The depth of the characters in this series hooked me in. Very real emotional pain left by abuse drives some of these very brave women. The writer reminds of Robert Dugoni and his character Tracy Crosswhite. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this series. Thoroughly enjoyed the first two in the series and I’m looking forward to start on the third book.
