Publisher's summary

An absolutely gripping psychological thriller with a brilliant twist

Marianne has a life others dream of. A beautiful townhouse on the best street in the neighbourhood. Three bright children who are her pride and joy.

Sometimes her past still hurts: losing her mother early, growing up in foster care. But her husband, Simon, is always there. A successful surgeon, he’s the envy of every woman they’ve ever met. Flowers, gifts, trips to France: nothing is too good for his family.

Then Simon says another woman’s name. The way he lingers on it, Caroline, gives Marianne a shudder of suspicion, but she knows it’s nothing - she can’t entertain this flash of paranoia.

In the old days, she’d have distracted herself by excelling at work, but Marianne left her glamorous career when she married. She’d speak to a friend, but she’s too busy with her children and besides, Simon doesn’t approve of the few she has left.

It’s almost by accident that Marianne starts to learn more about Caroline. But once started, she can’t stop, because what she finds makes her wonder: is the question she should be asking not "should I be jealous" but..."should I be scared?"

Fans of The Girl on the Train and I Let You Go who are looking for a dark, gripping psychological thriller with a final twist to put their jaw on the floor will love Our Little Lies.

WOW

This has been one of the best books I have read in a while, and I get about 3 audio books a week . Absolutely Amazing! I almost didnt get it because I have a hard time with British narrators but this narrator was fabulous!

The book may have been better if I had read it rather than listened to audio version

The narration was difficult to listen to not clear whether the narrator’s accent caused her to sound as if she had a head cold and stuffed up nose or if she did have a cold. It distracted from the content. I also was annoyed by the use of hashtag in the narrative it seemed to be overused in the context of the storyline but it may have just seemed that way when listening rather than reading.

Slow build

This book was so slow and repetitive that I just couldn’t listen to the whole thing. The main character repeats herself about her worries and concerns that I just couldn’t listen anymore. She is naive and boring. I skipped to the last 30 minutes so I could figure out what the big “twist” was.
I don’t know if the middle is more interesting or not but the build up was so slow I just couldn’t force myself any longer.

Unrealistic end

The whole story clearly set lines for both the protagonist and antagonist but the ending clearly was out of character of the antagonist.

Very good

Really enjoyed. I can usually guess the endings of these books but this kept me guessing until the end. Really well done.

Partially predictable

Good story, but some parts were predictable. But the narrator was good. The details in the book made you feel like you were there.

Listened to the whole book in less than three days

This book engulfed me. The narrator was amazing and really got into the different voices of the characters so you always knew what character was speaking . Just when I thought I had it all figured out there was a huge twist that I never would have expected. I even thought I already had the twist figured out and I was only half correct. Did not see that last one coming.
Definitely worth the credit.

Good but it takes a bit...

it took all I had not to stop listening because of the complete insecurities of the main character and her eagerness to give in to her filthy husband. I know it's not real but it was so much that it literally made my skin crawl. it got better but it was mostly predictable until the final twist at the end.

Get to the point.

I feel like although it was a good book, it took forever to get to the story and peak my interest.
