Mike Ellis is a rookie cop in a rural Catskill Mountain town working in the shadow of his dead father, the former Chief of Police. With the help of his trusty partners and some old timers, Mike discovers that his father had kept something hidden that, now discovered, sparks national attention. But as the spotlight shines on the past, Mike loses grip on the promises he made in the present, with dire consequences.

Can Mike reconcile the relationship with a father he doesn’t truly know and solve two murders separated by four decades?

An Unlikely Connection

This was my first experience with this author's work. I was entertained by the story; however, I thought the details were confusing. I understood that there was a mystery and there needed to be some red herrings, but some of the resolution didn't seem to follow a logical path. I liked Mike Ellis; however, I thought his character traits were too ephemeral. I thought Bobby Garrison's narration was entertaining. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
