Publisher's summary

Orson Reid: college freshman, gamer, and quite possibly the legendary boogeyman of the magical world. And you thought your life was weird.

It all started the night Orson kissed his best friend, Elyse, and she kissed him back. Yes, the kiss was life-changing, but in ways Orson never could have imagined. It seems he contracted a "virus" that is making him taller, faster, and stronger. But his life doesn't go completely off the rails until the night Elyse shows up at his house, strips out of her clothes, and shape-shifts into a giant cat - a panther, to be exact.

Now, instead of preparing for his freshman year of college, Orson is tossed head first into a world where shape-shifters, magic, and monsters are real. A world ruled by the secretive Paragon Society, a group that enforces magical law with brutal efficiency.

And if all that wasn't enough for one guy to deal with, Orson may just be the Ollphiest, the legendary monster that even monsters fear.

Great book with a sucky ending.

Through out reading this book I found it to be quite fascinating and a very good story unfortunately I tend to rate things by how they end. And unfortunately this book had a totally down beat ending. And I know not every store you can have a happy ending but you know what I just skip those books and just read the ones that I like. If you can’t enjoy a story why dedicate your time to reading it unless of course you’re a masochist. I’ll probably go ahead and get the next book and to see if it improves any. The way this book ended in a downward spiral I don’t know if I have any hopes for it.

good book

good plot with characters that were well-developed and sets up a series quite well. it was refreshing to find a recent fantasy book that did not overdue the romance. I'm so over the Harem thing.

More of a YA book … a disappointment.

I don't remember the description of this book containing any information about it being a YA book. Perhaps the author didn't intend for it to be one, but, unfortunately, it is. Thin plot, one-dimensional characters and a story that was just too coincidental.

The story and the narrator were perfect

First thanks Mr Delaney for writing this fun read. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Matt Godfrey really was the perfect choice to narrate this book. He has got 18 year old sarcastic boy down. Lol. His feminine voices were similar sounding but he aged them. Elyse sounded like a teenaged girl. Aunt Tina sounded older and Mrs Kelly sounded like a mom. If you want a quick fun listen I really just recommend this book

Wonderful! A Feel-Good Action-Packed Adventure

This is a great book that probably falls more inline with YA, but it serves as a great break from the harem fantasy novels that are flooding the gamelit genre. The story and narration are wonderful with an overall feel-good vibe. There is innocent teen romantic development and little if any cursing. Limitations on romance, graphic violence and language are not something I search for in a book, but it's certainly a refreshing change of pace.

I'm glad I went into this book without realizing it was probably geared toward YA. Otherwise I may have passed it by and missed out on a great listen. If you're even considering this title, do yourself a favor and just buy it. It's absolutely an edge of your seat story that you'll want to finish in a single listen!

Drawn out

I was not excited with this book. It's very drawn out with nothing happening until the end. The book is written like it's for teenagers from the 90's but oriented towards adults (no vulgar language). The narrator often times uses his female voice for the male characters making listening confusing. There's little character development with important characters and major character development with unimportant characters. Overall it's not very interesting.

Don't read, unless you're 13

Not for adults or teenagers who appreciate good writing. Repetitive, the romance subplot was nauseating, lots of introspection and angst from the main character, I couldn't finish it, I was mostly done but I just can't. I don't like to write negative reviews, sorry author, hope you keep writing and improving but I'mma head out.
