Publisher's summary

"Oh devs who art in the issue queue. Hallowed be thy code. Thy commits merge without conflict. Thy will be done in production as it is on local. I'm sure you guys are busy and all, but I can't log out."

As a programmer, Ike knows all about Virtual Dive Experiences (VDX), but when he suddenly wakes up in a virtual game he's never heard of, he’s too busy struggling to survive to worry about how he got there. Luckily, he's got a trick up his sleeve: the ability to program custom enchantments for his gear.

He’ll need that and more to figure out what’s going on, since there’s no tutorial and True Calling plays by its own rules: Your class and race are chosen for you, the NPCs are indistinguishable from the players, every quest is unique, and the GMs keep leaving Ike’s prayers unanswered.

Interesting story, painful to listen to.

Seemed like the narrator was a chat bot, or text to speech reader program. Stilted with odd pauses and emphasis on the wrong words.

For a new author and new Narrator, outstanding.

Very good indeed. Great action and deep characters. Highly recommended if you like fantasy RPG.

Good story overall

Thad definitely is a newer author but I think the core of the story is there. I would recommend this book for sure.

Great book.....

I love the book. But the narrator kept throwing me off with the way he read it. He emphasized words that are not normally done that way in certain sentence structures and my brain kept trying to correct it while i was listening. I didn't even get the book downloaded all the way before i cancelled it and downloaded the book itself to read.

Chapters seem cut off.

While listening to the story seems like the chapters just end without any warning. One instance is when it says “world first” then the next chapter they don’t give any other info on it. It’s strange.
It’s a nice story other than that. The narrator does a nice job but the chapters cutting off is a bit strange.

Game Show Narrator

Good litrpg mechanics. Good story. Weird narration. I felt like I was listening to a game show or commercial with this narrator. He is good, but he emphasize each word. The chapters aren't clip short, either it was fixed or wasn't actually an issue. MC just doesn't bother with reading titles right away. This story doesn't stand out to me, but easily an good addition to LitRPG readers.

for a first book good

So as I listened to this story I felt the struggle. the struggle to not make an op character. you will end up with that no matter what.
