Publisher's Summary

Together with her one-year-old daughter, Maja, single mother Sofie Lund moves into the house she inherited from her grandfather. Sofie has such painful memories that she has had every trace of the old man removed - every trace but a locked safe that has been bolted to the basement floor.

Inside the safe Sofie finds something shocking that will also become crucial evidence in a case that has plagued Inspector William Wisting for a long time. To follow this lead, though, he must cut across important loyalties and undermine confidence in the police force.

Boring, predictable and pedantic

I am a fan of the narrator. He did a great job in the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, but he really didn't have much to work with here. The book is a "procedural" and it is just that. All process no substance or suspense.

It is OK

This book 's strength is in the unraveling of police procedural errors. Too many unsavory characters involved in the ugly life of crime are less than interesting for my taste. Bit it is a good detective story.

Author

This author has written another awesome book! I have listened to all the other books in this series and they just keep getting better. I hope Mr. Horst plans on writing for a long long time.

quite a good book,

this book was no littery masterpiece, but it was entertaining, I would buy books by this author again. At first the narration does not seem very good, but if you stick with for a little while you will become a fan of Saul Riechlin and the gentle way he tells the story

Excellent storyline, well performed by Reichlin

As usual Horst keeps you guessing until the end. Another entertaining performance by Reichlin too.

Superb introduction to a new to me author

I really enjoyed this book, The characters were good to get to know - I was a little bit nonplussed by some of the reactions of the ladies - (If I found something I didn't like the look of I would want to pass the buck to the police), so their reluctance didn't gel with me. However apart from this minor point - I found the story excellent, well written and really difficult to put down.
I love Saul Reichlin and the way he puts life into the characters. Yes a very good purchase!

Exceptional

Best book I have come across in a long time. Clever, involved plot and great characters. Just hoping he will write many more books.
