As empty and obvious, as the lives of we suffering

Anyone caught in the grips of addiction whom had the experience of listening to this reading would undoubtably have the same responce. "Tell me something I dont know" The sum of the content of the reading could be analagist to telling someone with a migraine "Hey, you know those are painful" And having the disgised arrogance of thinking they have arrived at some inlightened appefoney that has shed some eluding light on the condition.

surprisingly useful

Tried heroin once, so I don't necessarily need to undergo opiate withdrawal. However, I may not know when the info about it may be helpful, so I got it anyway. The book has been informative in spite of the fact that I listened to it in a short time.

reference guide

Just as the title and subtitle suggest..this is a step by step guide on how to deal with, and recover from opiate addiction. This is a great reference guide. Covers withdrawal symptoms and how to handle them, and the book even touches on relapse; which lets face it, happens for most of us throughout the recovery period. Worth checking out, and hanging onto as a guide

awesome

This was a great find for me as this book talks about opiate addiction and how to get out of it. Sadly, a few of my family members have died recently due to addictions. I was struggling to find closure and I wanted to learn more about this addiction. I honestly wish I had found this book sooner. It touches on a very important issue and is a great book for anyone who knows someone who is on opiates. I think I will pass it around to some of my family members and close family friends who know of people struggling through these addictions.

A great resource!

Great book! I have been involved in the field of addiction for many years now and wish I had had such open and honest information way back when. Aside from real life stories that eliminate the unknown of what to expect when detoxing from opiates, it offers hope with first hand examples of people that have made it out of the darkness of addiction. A great resource for anyone that want information on the detox process.

This is an excellent book to be listen by anyone.

The book presents a short introduction to the world of opioid use although it does not go into a lot of detail. The bulk of the book concentrates on the treatment and care of opioid users; particularly treatment using medical support through other narcotics. This is a guide for someone that is trying to get informed on the topic of opioid use and its treatments. The book has an appendix where the author is explaining more about the different treatments. There are many books about the topic of opioid use, but they do not always explain how the medical treatment works in detail. This book offers listeners a real and honest explanation of medical treatment for the opioid addiction. This is an excellent book to be listen by anyone afflicted by this disease directly or indirectly.

This is a brilliant book.

This is a brilliant book and must listen for those who are in the trenches fighting to save patients addicted to opioids. A.J. Knight provides a clear and concise road map starting from medical detox to the most critical component of treatment - relapse prevention. The book is most timely because for the first time in history we are battling an opioid epidemic with no strategy to curb or curtail the supply or access to illegal opioids like heroin and fentanyl. This book give hope to patients, their families and the treatment professionals that we can win the battle against the heroin epidemic.

An authoritative, compassionate guide.

This book provides much needed authoritative, compassionate guidance about opioid addiction, currently often referred to as opioid use disorder (OUD). The information is presented in a comprehensive manner that avoids highly technical language, so it is accessible to a broad range of listeners. The explanation that this illness is a chronic brain disease is presented in a convincing manner and the comparison to other chronic illnesses that require prolonged medical and behavioral support is emphasized. There are detailed sections of the book that will be of immense help to both family members of an affected loved one and to those who suffer from OUD. Medical and behavioral health providers would also benefit from the information provided as a supplement to their specific specialty training.

Important book on the subject of saving lives

I thoroughly enjoyed listening this book. I learned many new things and it also helped to reinforce what I already know about medical treatment for opioid use disorder. Doctors and other healthcare providers should listen it to learn more about what they can do to help. We need to be on the same page and agree on the science of current medical treatment. We need to provide encouragement for our patients to let them know that they are doing the right thing. We also need to educate families, support groups and drug treatment centers about the right way to provide medical treatment. There is too much misinformation out there right now.
