Publisher's summary

The world of Densun has become so corrupt that Heaven has chosen an atheist criminal to protect it. Alex Talos believes in little he cannot see, a view reinforced by the abuse that filled all 16 years of his life. But when he is given a chance at personal redemption - one that he hopes will offset his fugitive status - he takes it, despite not believing in the forces responsible for the offer.

Alex views his new title, the Holy Protector of Densun, as nothing more than a gateway to better meals and warmer beds, though new companions attempt to teach him a sense of responsibility. Alex stubbornly clings to his views until a threat emerges that challenges everything he knows about reality.

First book from a new author

What did you love best about One Step Toward Divinity?

The interaction between the characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nick, he's the mysterious stranger who gets the answers.

What does Jon Michael bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His interpretation of the characters is a bit different that what is in my head.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There is a conversation between Nick and Alex that because of the intonation Jon Michael uses had me almost spitting out my drink. That never happened when I read the print book.

Any additional comments?

Very impressive effort for a first time narrator/author. I will happily listen to his next book.

Can't wait for the next one

With characters that feel real, a world that unfolds beautifully, flaws and all, read in a way that kept me engaged all the way through, I'm gonna have a hard time waiting for the next book to arrive.

If there's a flaw with the story, it's that it reveals the intrigue a little too slowly for my tastes, but that only makes it even more powerful when the hints spread throughout the story finally bring their true details to light. And with even more mysteries, just begging to unfold, I eagerly wait to see what more this author brings to us in the future.

One crazy ride

this book was a darn good read I felt for Alex and how he wanted to feel more powerful to help everyone he could. And I also really enjoy the chemistry of Alex and Nick, just such beautiful story telling
