Hang on in there

I was dubious about this title after reading some of the reviews however stick with it. The first few chapters you meet a lot of different characters all with their own stories completely unrelated however do not stop reading it does all tie together and you find yourself laughing, cringing and genuinely getting sucked into the story

decent storyline, terrible pronunciation!

bit confusing at the beginning with the parallel storylines but coming together in the end nicely.

However, Italian pronunciation is atrocious! speaking a bit myself, I could barely make out the words! really, narrator and producer could have put a bit more effort into correct intonation and pronunciation of Italian words especially since every chapter title is in Italian!!!
saying 'gkrazi' instead of grazie is quite sad!

Chick Lit

The book is complete chick-lit but not without interest, the characters are quite well drawn. I bought this in the hope it would have an Italian language flavour but sadly almost no Italian words to be found, and I still don't know which one night in Italy the title refers to. The reader had dreadful Italian (and cockney) accents; she mispronounced several words (chez, garrulous, ensconced) and the pauses were in weird places. I think this is an editing problem which should have been ironed out before publication. For a comparison I much preferred Maeve Binchy's Evening Class - similar idea, more Italian!

Far to many main characters.

What disappointed you about One Night in Italy?

To many stories vying for the tops spot, it was like five short stories made into one book, I had no idea who the lead character was as they had no real strengths.

Has One Night in Italy put you off other books in this genre?

No

What didn’t you like about Geraldine Sharrock’s performance?

Nice to hear a Yorkshire accent

What character would you cut from One Night in Italy?

the long lost dad, either have him in the story line properly or not at all

Characters needed different voices

An enjoyable story was spoilt slightly by a lack of voices from the narrator. It required concentration to work out which character was speaking.

Good, easy listen.

I enjoyed this story, but there were occasionally some odd pronunciations, accents, and pauses mid sentence from the narrator.

enjoyable story.

Any additional comments?

the main characters are introduced individually and they all come together at the course learning Italian. each of them is facing a different scenario, unfaithful husband, who is their father etc., all with happy endings as they become stronger.
well written story well performed by geradine sharrock.
liking this author, will look for more by her.

Loved the story and the characters; almost completely spoiled by the narration - mispronounced words and pauses in the wrong place.

Enjoyed this very much

Great little story, loved the Italian class idea as the bringing together of all the different characters.
